Belated Happy Valentine’s! These Haus of Gloi items arrived in January, so it’s about time I said something about them, eh? I’ve hardly had one or two hours to myself apart from being besieged by the flu, and in addition to that my laptop went bust, so my boyfriend’s been quite busy with it at the moment. That altogether put an anti-climactic halt to my plans for on-the-spot Valentiney posts. Ahhh, phooey, did my laptop have to catch it from me as well (bitterly)…well…ahem…

One can hardly explain the absolute and ultimate glee I felt when my first package of Haus of Gloi items arrived (Limited Yuletide collection) followed by my second purchase of the one-day reverie Peppermint Cocoa (for Mom) and Spiced Cocoa whipped soap pair that sold out in last December’s Cyber Monday sale.
Haus of Gloi is a U.S. vegan bath and body brand established by husband and wife, Matt and Britton, vegan means their products are environmentally friendly, made from organic ingredients, and cruelty free. They specialize in “Foodie” scents and nostalgic, seasonal concoctions.
In the first batch at the top I ordered six small 2 oz pots from their site HausofGloi.com, two body butters in Eggnoggin and Parkin, and four soft bubbling scrubs in Eggnoggin, Parkin, Elevenses, and Hearth. Peppermint Cocoa and Spiced Cocoa followed in the form of whipped soap which I’ll review separately of course 🙂
The labels are delightfully designed, stylishly kitsch and medieval in a way and the entire family of themes under the Haus of Gloi brand emanates a sense of ageless once upon a time wonder. See what I mean in the scent descriptions below.
Eggnoggin (Yuletide collection) – “The Haus ‘nog! Cream, sugar, and a shot of dark rum top with fresh grated nutmeg.”
Elevenses (regular item) – “Not quite breakfast not quite lunch it’s the little snack in between. Bring out the old cracked china! Tiny, little, fluffy orange cakes, sugar-coated toasty almonds, and a wee steaming cup of black tea!”
Parkin (Yuletide collection) – “Glorious ginger cakes celebrating Guy Fawkes day! Brown sugar, black treacle, oats, a peculiar blend of white spices tossed with chopped roasted chestnuts and topped with the lightest of icings.”
Hearth (Yuletide collection) – “The warm glowing center of any home. The fall’s last apple pickings, warm bread, orange rind, fire roasted chestnuts, cracked black pepper all nailed down by an oozing sticky benzoin (something like molasses).”
I’m making this my introductory post to the Haus of Gloi line as I hardly have any time at the moment to talk about each scent and my sentiments about them, plus this happens to be an office computer and I’ve taken to enjoying this sudden flash of fleeting downtime over here so I have to make this quick. Hehe, aren’t those scent descriptions absolutely yummy? I’m telling you, as a preview to my next in-focus post on these products, it’s a totally delicious scent experience.
The lovely couple were also kind enough to send me two free sample perfume oil vials of two other scents, Troika and Peach Mama.
