There’s something to be said about the overtly expensive products of luxe Australian borne but now also UK embraced cosmetics brand BECCA. The neutral, elegant, and natural schemes that the brand has taken to heart now captures the attention of make-up lovers worldwide. While the sun beats down on the Western Hemisphere and slowly leaves us, the BECCA Halcyon Days Summer 2011 Collection has just arrived. I think it’s fresh and brings back the hippie feel in a pretty way.
Mineral Blushes and Bronzer
Locally, Becca products are exclusively available at Adora in Greenbelt 5. In my experience, (after being invited to a BECCA MakeUp Workshop with Cherry Pacheco click here), the BECCA product line is a neutral makeup lover’s dream. There’s no need to be scared of doing it wrong when applying their products because a lot of them are foolproof, practical, and buildable (you may add little by little) in payoff or consistency and so you needn’t worry too much about overdoing it or looking unnatural if you didn’t pull off the look perfectly. The looks that Becca feature often include dewy skin soft eye makeup, cheeks with a rush of color, and juicy tinted lips. I don’t own any of the products from this year’s summer collection, but I do have my Becca Glossy Lip Tint that was given to me by BECCA at the sponsored workshop I attended, it also came with a Mineral Primer with SPF for the face.

My Glossy Lip Tint, the one given to me, is in the shade “Granita”, it’s a neutral nude golden beige with subtle gold shimmer that isn’t glittery or sparkly. I’ve had this for awhile now. I like that it isn’t like cheaper lipglosses that look like they have a lot of color in the tube, but when you apply it, nothing happens to your lips. I love that the applicator isn’t your usual “doe-foot” applicator, it’s a soft, synthetic brush at the end of a long wand, I believe this is perfect for applying this kind of lipgloss formula, it gives you more control and you can build up color easier if you want more.
When I put on this lipgloss, I feel like I have celebrity lips. I paled my lips just a bit with my pressed powder, then applied the gloss. It smells lovely, too, I think I smell grapefruit.
I get a wash of golden nude sophistication and the stickiness gets less with more wear and looks more natural after a few hours when the product slowly sinks into the lips. My lips don’t flake crack or peel badly when I’ve got this over naked lips or even over lipstick. Here I’m wearing just the gloss. Zuneta in the UK also posted a video tutorial showing how the products of the BECCA Halcyon Days collection can be used to pull together a neutral day or smoky night look. I found this video very enjoyable, it’s so casual, easy to listen to and it’s well shot. Watch it :).
