The lady from the Ramp said these Sleek Matte Me Lip Creams arrived just last week. For your information in case you’ve been living under a rock (as I possibly have been from time to time) UK’s popular Sleek and Collection cosmetics are now available at the Ramp boutiques for about several months now, I’ve spotted them at Glorietta and Trinoma. I’ve blogged about the NYX (Now at SM Aura department store) Soft Matte Lip Creams a couple of years back…those are really popular and are really convenient strongly pigmented matte lip products. Recently Lime Crime’s Velvetine lip products have also been enjoying the limelight. Sleek have taken their own version of this sort of product another level up…with bang on pigment as well as unrivaled longevity and a thinner consistency. I’m actually still sick at the moment (fever, runny nose, sore throat, headache…) but I am doing my best to recover, blogging is right along the road to recovery.
SLEEK Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Creams (Php450 each)
TOP TO BOTTOM – Party Pink (Coral), Petal (Pastel Nude Pink), Fandango Purple (Berry Fuschia), Rioja Red (Cool Red, comparable to MAC Ruby Woo)
My personal favorite of the moment is Fandango Purple, my runner up fave is the Party Pink which is a pink-y coral, and my least favorite is Petal which I knew might be too light for me but it would totally suit someone “tisay” or caucasian. Petal would work better for me if I applied concealer over my lips.
Now the thing with these that’s a little tricky is they set quite strong and quickly. I found myself making mistakes lining the lip edge with this and had to correct with a cotton bud and makeup remover (also because I’m still besieged by the flu and my hands are shaky…) so ideally you should have a lip liner pencil that suits the shade and line your lips with that first then fill in with this. A softer lip edge is more appealing to me than a sharp lip edge, they look less like stick-on lips. Less chances of edge mistakes happening that way if you use a lip liner. These last very well through a meal but like Charlotte’s (Lipglossiping.com) case with the Lime Crime Velvetines, you’ll have to simply retouch the inside of your lower lip because these leave a hard edge and the pigment fades on the inside of the lip after a few meals. You can see a little of what I mean happening in the photo above, check the inner part of my lower lip.
The reason why I wore only one of the shades to show you is this lip product is VERY, VERY difficult to remove completely from the lips. My lips would have gone on strike if I had shot myself wearing all the shades. If I was going to wear a bang on red lip this would be my weapon of choice, less chance of a mess happening. To remove this properly you can use olive oil, a cleansing oil, vaseline petroleum jelly, or a bi-phase make up remover, using any of those will ensure no stain is left behind. You can also opt to wear a thin layer of lip balm underneath (I recommend Hurraw) if you want less of a hassle upon removal.
Someone wasn’t supposed to be part of the photo but my cat sat right there when I was about to take this shot, and once she sits, there’s no moving her anytime soon. Once again, these cost Php450 each from the Ramp. You can check out other Sleek cosmetic products at the Ramp boutiques in both Glorietta and Trinoma.
