My Earl Grey Tea Milkshake | Cool Your Jets the Creamy Way

Hello, still know me?  I apologize, last week’s schedule was off the charts, been very busy with social events for another upcoming cousin’s wedding, a shoot for an upcoming Resurrection Sunday special, and working during tapings for a new ABS-CBN show, Your Face Sounds Familiar.  Kind of lost my momentum back there ‘coz I’d come home just wanting my makeup to remove itself, sleep and wake up just wanting to sleep in (like today because have another taping tomorrow).  In between though I did shoot some stuff I wanted to share which I’d been meaning to put up a few days back, like one of the frequent blender sessions I’ve been having.

INGREDIENTS (serves 2):

1/2 cup Fresh whole milk (you can use cold carabao’s milk if you want a Pinoy twist, if you want your milkshake like roadside heavy go full cream milk)

2 or 3 full packed scoops  of Merry Moo Earl Grey Tea Ice Cream (depends on how thick you want your shake, for thicker add more ice cream.  Pint size available at SM Aura Cinema Food Court, Echostore in Market Market, weekend Sunday Legaspi Market in Makati, Glorietta food court and other places, check Merry Moo’s Facebook page.)  This is my ultimate favorite ice cream.

8-10 oz. of ice cubes (a cup or more than a cup, more ice cubes means more water, which makes it easier to sip, less ice cubes makes it richer and thicker).

1/2 cup steeped Earl Grey tea (I use 1 Twinings tea bag to brew a full cup and just drink the excess, haha)

1 tbsp. of sugar (optional, I don’t put sugar because the ice cream is sweet enough for me and I try to keep excess sugar out of what I eat.)

EQUIPMENT: Kitchen blender that can blend solid ice, measuring cups, ice cream scoop, milkshake glasses or mason jar mugs, straws optional (paper straws won’t work well with milkshakes, spoon for tasting (no double dipping!)

I’m so hooked on blended dairy drinks.  Fruit and veggie smoothies to follow.  We didn’t have a decent industrial strength blender before and I’ve been cooling the jets by making frappes and shakes.  Just wanted to share with you how I made my Earl Grey tea milkshake.  I’d been meaning to just do this and try it and after ages and ages finally got around to it.  Click through to see the full process and method of making this yummy drink.… To full post & COMMENTS...

NCLA Nailing Hollywood Nail Wraps | Late Night Filing

Why did I do this at half past one in the morning?  My thoughts exactly…but doing nail wraps when you’re supposed to be doing something else gets you…stuck, the ultimate fun being you get perfection without the mess.  I didn’t even plan on blogging, but they turned out nifty-looking.

Processed with VSCOcam with a2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with c3 presetI’m not feeling very wordy at the moment but all I’ll say is they were easier to apply than I thought.  Take the appropriately sized nail wrap as you would a sticker (they advise base coat first but, nah I didn’t) and align the rounded top to your cuticle and nail edges, stretch the excess over the nail edge then slowly file the extra off.  You can choose to apply a glossy top coat to give the effect of it being perfectly polished instead of wrapped.  You can find the details of where I got this in my introductory NCLA nails post linked here from last year.  Told you I was lazy, goodnight.  These nails are perfect for a personal event tomorrow.

Pantene Advanced Keratin Conditioner & Marc Anthony Argan Oil Sulfate-Free Shampoo | Beef Up Those Strands Before Summer!

Here’s to stuff from the high-street grocery, S&R!  Before summer we like to start thinking in advance about how we’re going to stock up on skincare, moisturizers, sunscreen, gentle fake tan, tanning lotions and more.  A lot of the time we tend to lay aside the need to protect our hair, most especially if your strands are extra fragile due to color-treating.  Currently, yes, even with my short hair, I’ve been beefing my locks up with high-street grocery keratin infused haircare even before the main heat scorches the city this summer.  Keratin is the main  protein naturally found in human hair which is also the same strong protein that forms claws, feathers, hooves, and horns in animals as well.  So yes, it’s the tough stuff in your hair.

Color treatments tend to strip the hair (I only have mine colored every 3 months) which is why hydrating and restorative aftercare while having color-treated hair is so important, especially when it comes to direct heat.  This is the dynamic haircare duo I’ve been looking to lately and they’re both from S&R Membership grocery…plus I can’t help but say even if they’re from different brands I love that they have a coordinating turquoise colorway, lol.  The Pantene Expert Collection Advanced Keratin Repair (whew) Conditioner (Made in the U.S.) and Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil (Keratin Infused) Sulfate-free (double whew) shampoo (Made in Canada).  What a mouthful between these two, I was just ’bout to pull my hair out while typing the post title.

BLOB ON TOP : PANTENE Expert Collection Advanced+ Keratin Repair Conditioner (also has a shampoo, but not sulfate-free), Made in U.S., the Expert Collection range also has a purple variant in S&R which is the Age Defying Shampoo and Conditioner, whereas this one I’m featuring is a strengthening repair one the other variant is a more rejuvenating, nourishing one for dull hair.  This conditioner is thick and rich, almost like a paste which is indicative of the formula being so different from local conditioners, I coat my hair, massage it in and leave it for 3-4 minutes after my shampoo then rinse off.

Php550+ (currently -Php100+ on sale) 500ml jumbo size

BLOB BENEATH: MARC ANTHONY Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Sulfate-Free (Keratin Infused) Shampoo, Made in Canada, this also comes in a repairing Macadamia variant (sulfate-free also) in S&R.  Even if this is a sulfate-free shampoo this lathers up quite nicely but NOT at all like a high-powered detergent thankfully.

Php350+ , 250ml tube (more beach friendly)

Between the two, they’re not your bog-standard grocery shelf haircare products locally, I’m aware (don’t get me wrong I have a few bog standard grocery faves myself which work so well for the price) but you get a whole lot of product as you’ll see from the size comparison against my hand here, they’re huge, and considering their formulas are processed in better manufacturing locations (US and Canada) you know what you’re paying for.  They’re from S&R membership grocery which means they are more pricy than the items found in a regular supermarket BUT they’re both still way less expensive than if you chose to buy a salon-level Keratin Shampoo and Conditioner from a professional salon which would easily cost over Php1000 for each at sizes like this.  Both products leave my hair not limp with a bit more oomph and softness at the back and my head doesn’t get oily or flaky with these products.

What I like about both is not only are they color-coordinated despite being different brands, but the scents blend beautifully together and they aren’t over-powering.  They’re the nicest fragrant high-street shampoo conditioner tandem I’ve come across.  The Pantene conditioner has a warm, super slightly sugary scent with a tart berry note but it’s done in a sophisticated way, not annoying…I could almost say the warmth in the Pantene conditioner scent is like fragrant treacle, the essence of something I’ve smelt from Haus of Gloi before…and don’t get me started on the shampoo, oh my.  The shampoo has a gentle…kind of super summery, non-annoying hint of sunblock with floral tones type of scent…it’s hard to describe, it’s like a coconut tinged scent with a sun-filled, sandy floral note….ugh I’m so not up to par on describing scents these days, help me Sali Hughes, LOL.  To round it all off I think if you’re not satisfied with what’s in your local supermarket but want to level up on haircare without burning holes in your wallet at the salon, try these from S&R membership shopping, if you’re not an S&R member it should be average-easy to find someone who might be.  S&R membership shopping is currently at BGCFort, another one near City of Dreams, Roxas Blvd., and in Alabang.… To full post & COMMENTS...

POND’s Flawless White BB Cream SPF 30 | Photogenic Dupe for my Shiseido Hydrating BB Cream

This is practically the first POND’s review I have ever done, because this product gets a huge thumbs up from normal-to-sensitive-combo-skin me.  I put this review up quickly because it looks so good in photos, and I keep checking myself in the mirror ‘coz I’m pretty impressed I’m totally ignoring the fact that it’s a whitening product.  It just looks exceptionally good and photogenic on the face for a grocery and department store brand base.  It not sticky, not greasy and lifts the complexion when you put it on and I’m surprised the Light shade which looks a wrong sort of grey tone before application actually helps counteract sallow tones on my face (if we’re talking perfect shade I’m a blend of both shades but I like how Light lifts my face in appearance, but I mix a little bit of Beige in).  For normal skin gals, you won’t even need to set it with powder, maybe at the very least just have blot sheets handy this summer if you use this.

“Looking for the best BB Cream*? The Pond’s Institute developed Pond’s Flawless White BB+ Cream (Php299.00)—a whitening cream and lightweight foundation in one—giving both skin care and makeup benefits. Use Pond’s BB+ Cream to achieve a flawless, no-makeup look.

Special Ingredient

GenActiv™

Two potent ingredients, Niacinamide and 12HSA, regulate the genes that control melanin production.

  • Compared to other BB Creams, it is less likely to cause pimples because it’s less sticky and helps control oil the whole day. No need to apply powder afterwards.
  • Compared to a CC Cream, it gives better coverage without the sticky feeling, aside from Pond’s expert skin care formula.

I like Pond’s as a brand and all their efforts to bring new affordable products out, it’s just that my mareklamo face usually doesn’t do too well with a few of the other products they have that are scented, but like for example who doesn’t love their classic Cold Cream?  This BB Cream base is scented, but not heavily, I had to swatch, smell, and repeat to really spot how much fragrance was in there, not that much, thankfully.  Click to continue reading the full post and see high-definition photos of me wearing this product.… To full post & COMMENTS...
