OMIGAWRSH…I spotted their video announcement on YouTube and got super excited. I only ever got to buy 1 pair of Renegade Folk shoes and they happen to be my most favorite heels. Back then they were available at bazaars and they had a Multiply Store online which is no longer active but they’ve got a brand spanking NEW RenegadeFolk.com Website here! I’ve used my own pair so often ever since I got them. These are photos from my Samsung Galaxy S Android phone, I use the FREE app Camera 360 when taking mobile photos.
They’re not cheap but they’re not insanely expensive either considering how great their styles and shapes are. I think I scored this pair at a bazaar for about Php1800 or Php2000 2.5 years ago but they’ve lasted me so well and still look really great considering I’ve worn them to so many places. I discovered the brand at their Rockwell bazaar kiosk, bought those shoes and loved them then Renegade Folk disappeared for what looked like was forever, but now they’re back!!! Like them on Facebook, check their website, and watch their YouTube announcement in this video.
I’ve never talked about jewelry that isn’t costume jewelry, we’re talking bout real bedazzlers this time. RUBEDO is a lovely new metal created in time for Tiffany & Co.’s 175th Anniversary celebration. Its pure, pinkish hue mimicks that of the currently trendy rose gold. As of late you’ll find rose gold accents popping up almost everywhere (though I personally think it doesn’t suit EVERY skintone like they say), from the oversized ladies watches to the Elizabeth Arden Aurora collection, but there’s something inherently cleaner about RUBEDO, something more attractive than the idea of rose gold.
If you’re on the market for something new RUBEDO is very feminine and has just stepped into the limelight. I noticed there are 2 rings I believe in the collection (before the earrings above) and to me one wide one is pretty but horribly huge and looks like a corset or girdle for my finger and the other collection ring is far too branded right the way along the band for me to be fond of. I’m intent on rectifying that at the very least in theory. From the internet I took a photo of 1 engagement ring and digitally made it over visually changing the band to RUBEDO, one Tiffany Style 6-claw ring.
Some of you who are more comfortable with whatever is traditional would probably prefer the usual, safe platinum or silver bands, but to me after doing this photo makeover makes me feel like I’d just brought a ring from Pleasantville back into my world of color, and I like it very much. The idea of a rosy, blushing engagement ring would suit the mood upon “receiving” it I think *blush. I’ve not got MARRIAGE constantly on my mind 24/7, please don’t be mistaken in thinking that, I just couldn’t shake the thought of a lovely, simple Rubedo ring with a name inside and nothing is quite as sophisticated as an engagement ring. It’s a pretty thought that I just wanted to see manifested in an image at least (I’m so glad I’m digitally keen). For sure my husband-to-be wouldn’t want Rubedo wedding rings (neither would I) butI thought it would be so nice to have “my” rosy Rubedo engagement ring sitting atop a platinum/silver wedding ring, the contrast in color would remind me of the heat of the moment “when I was asked”.
The Canadian false lashes brand Velour, are certainly among the best of the best when it comes to luxury mink lash falsies, after seeing them used by Pro MUA Wayne Goss on his YouTube channel, I really have to agree with him. Guess what, if you’re in for a tiny splurge, now’s the time because some of their best sets are on opening promotion sale at 50% off, and they’ve got bottom lashes, too like the Style Me Kardashian bottom lashes, “Kim Kardashian, need we say more?” which are on sale as well, I think they’re all 50% off actually. These upper lashes are the “T Dot Oooh!” pair.
“100% Mink
Mink fur offers a glamorous shine, soft feathery feel, and above all, a completely natural look.
Use up to 25 times
Lashes can be worn up to 25 times with proper care. The shape and form of the lashes remain the same even after several uses.
Natural & lightweight
Super lightweight and flexible, allowing you to curl it just like real human hair.
Cruelty-free and sterilized
Absolutely no harm done to animals. Brushed from live mink and sterilized to ensure safe non-allergenic usage.
Easy application
The band of the lash is designed to make application much easier!”
These are luxe mink lashes so they’re not cheap, like for example the lashes (above photo) that Wayne Goss used in his video embedded below (which I think would be beautiful on brides) will regularly retail scandalously at about US$60.00 when the sale ends (yea, I know…DUH, for LASHES), BUT for a limited time they’re available right now at $29.99 so if you’ve got an extremely special occasion like your own wedding I think these lashes are worth the purchase RIGHT NOW while they’re on sale, plus worldwide shipping’s free, need I say more? Watch Wayne’s video below where he applies a nice gradient smoky eye look on himself and finishes the look off with the lovely T Dot Oooh! falsies pair, to some of you, you might find that strange to watch, but I don’t. To me, he’s a makeup artist and he’s demonstrating, he’s really good and is a real good friend of the Pixiwoo Sisters, Sam and Nic.
Yes, I know there’s a sizeable outbreak of the neon trend which has already infected a TON of blogs. I don’t think I’d readily rock a neon eyeshadow if I could help it, only if there were a theme going and if there was a prize in store so on a normal day I guess not. BUT I have something else up my sleeve, para lang makikisama.
I kind of did like a minor tutorial on how I achieved the full on lashes. The clumpy finish of the mascara I purposely exaggerated because the look is all about tons of color with a bit of grunge inspired imperfect texture. I layered lashing after lashing of mascara till the lash curl would hold up as if it were coated with old hairspray. So the operative words for this look are CURL and COLOR. Read more to get to the full post on how I used individual lashes with the bright Sapphire Estee Lauder mascara.
I HATED headbands, not the elastic ones, I mean with all disdain the toothed wonders you fork towards the back of your head to keep hair out of your face or use to tie a look together. I grew up tolerating many a plastic few but they all delivered gradual skull pain behind my ears and a no-fail migraine at the end of the day. Honestly, I think the problem was either the shape of my head (it’s way too wonderful) or something about them just wasn’t ergonomic because they’d pop up over my head loose on top and tight where they ended. I happened to stroll into my mother’s bathroom this afternoon on a hunt for some spare makeup remover and I didn’t realize ’til then that she bought these because they were on the counter.
As soon as I beheld these headbands I knew I could finally let go of my lifelong hate. I asked Mom what brand they were and when she said “Goody” I had that twinkle in my eye and a *chime* sounded.
The Ouchless slim headbands are designed with ends that curve away from the areas behind the ears that tend to get sore and tender when pronged with regular headbands.
I’m sure these have been around for quite awhile. I only just happened to come across them yesterday and I’m so glad they exist. I’m sure I’ll own a few in the near future. After researching online I estimate that a pair of these would cost about Php200+.
I find it cute that “feather” and “leather” happen to rhyme, because on this belt I’ve got both for bout Php1100.00. Now I officially have two belts, before this I only had one. I picked this up from CPS or Chaps at HighStreet. That’s a really nice shop and the prices differ slightly but range closely alongside Topshop’s bang for your buck. The items, dresses, bags, shoes are all unique and well-made. It fits my thankfully little waist conveniently on the last snug hole so once I’m wearing it no holes are seen. (On my nails: Bobbie Premium Creme in Mudslide). It reminds me of Peter Pan and Shakespeare.
At the back of the feather is a sturdy brass peg to insert into whichever hole is a fit for you. It’s a bit tough to remove once you’ve inserted it (not good for people with weak bladders haha) but once you get the sideway hang of removing it, it’s ok, just a bit of effort for style’s sake.
I love how the feather is beautifully crafted and that it’s made of aged brass, plus the toughness and stretch of real leather makes it feel like a really good buy. I’ve been planning my outfits around this belt for the last week, that’s how much I like it.
So, I’ve decided to shoot my first video, please be kind. This is where I shot it in the comfort of my own room. The video is embedded below.
I have a very animated face that tends to go in every direction…and for now it’s not about makeup, but my favorite costume jewelry pieces. So without further adieu I launch my first introduction to my blog’s official YouTube channel I hope I can steal 10 minutes of your time. And please mentally delete every “Like” and “Uhhmm” I excessively say in between. It’s because I went at this without an outline and my cat backed out on holding dummy cards up for me. I’d like my videos to be unedited like this because I just don’t have time to nitpick at an edit (save for some opening credits or title text maybe next time). Group shot of the pieces featured after the video.
Is your computer screen splotched with tomatoes? I hope I wasn’t irritating. I find myself really hideous on video, not naman in photos, on video lang because my lips and nose look huge if it isn’t the right angle/lens and my face is very self-conscious when filming. Here’s a quick group shot of the pieces I just featured.
I hope I didn’t do too bad I actually got a kick out of it after since I enjoyed doing it after awhile. ‘Till the next one . Is there anything you want me to feature next time?
It was Miu Miu that made a BIG statement with these for fall. Giant, otherwise (if they weren’t Miu Miu lol) dowdy kiss lock clutch “purses” were cradled coolly by models on the runway for the A/W 2011 season. The oversize factor of these bags weaves a certain playfulness into what might’ve been the expected somber and deep trends for the season. Now with these your boyfriends may no longer offer to carry your bag for you LOL big, often strapless, and slightly unstructured, it might spell out “hassle” for him at first glance. Big clutches were already floating about in the style scene, but Miu Miu seems to have brought back the kiss lock one at full throttle. Photo credit to The Bag Lady.
Even Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast was drawn in by these Miu Miu marvels, she says so here. Those close to me know I’ve got a bit of an old lady in me, but this “old” soul likes more flirty pretty things and almost none of these purse colors appealed to me, save for the brown which is a workable classic. I really liked the idea of the kiss lock purse but I did’t see how one would appear to suit my liking. Bags this huge would only enhance my smallness and I happen to be the world’s best klutz so at first I thought “No, thank you”. Then the Heavens opened and I found one without really searching for it, when I was looking for a gift for a friend I hovered over this beauty at Nine West, and it was on sale. Behold my pretty Nine West “Fun and Fancy” Kiss Lock purse/handbag.
I liked how from afar the rosette like design resembled origami. This is not too huge and not quite tiny either it’s about 1 foot/12 inches in width and about 7 inches deep.
There’s a bit of kitsch to it right down to the tie dye/marble/ombre color thing happening right across the board, but it’s an acceptable amount for me, and I quite like it. The elaborate crafted design is only on one side, and at first I thought let down, but then again not really.
When I used it I understood why it was more convenient for one side to be plain. I may lay this down on a number of different surfaces and it was more comfortable to have by my side that way. This has become one of my default “going out to nice dinner” or “after 6″ bags. It certainly is an eye catcher, I brought this out twice tucked under my arm and had other girls and ladies looking at it from a distance (hopefully not in ridicule LOL). Read more to see more photos and find out what fit inside this purse for the photo!
It’s been awhile since I’ve had pretty decent photos of myself taken by a friend, the last photos I loved were my beach jumping shots by Nyx, my friend from Living Asia Channel. This time around I met up with an old friend, JeffMD (yes, it’s abbreviated) who now works as a matte painter/concept artist with Lucasfilms in Singapore. I won’t just be featuring photos of myself here, I also got a special piece of costume jewelry back in Manila before leaving that I think is simply pretty and I wanted to share it with you.
In case you’re not aware of Lucasfilms or ILM, to put it plainly for you they made Star Wars. You may have unknowingly watched several scenes Jeff completed in Iron Man 2, and Transformers 3 (wink), and watch out for Mission Impossible 4! No, you won’t find a photo of him in here because apparently his kind instinctively avoids being photographed at all costs which is probably one ticked box requirement if you want to work at Lucasfilms (I kid…). Read more to see more photos and the accessory I was talking about.
Hi Everyone! Have a happy easter, here are a few photos I took from our family’s Easter gathering More of the decor and flowers outside that I thought were pretty…AND of course just wanted to share a few things of note that my young, pretty, blooming cousins own.
