Zoella raved about these, Lily Pebbles did the same, and NikkieTutorials, a PRO makeup artist and YouTuber didn’t hesitate to say that they were better overall in her opinion than Sigma brushes or MAC brushes (most likely in the context of value for money). I was almost tempted to say they were like Europe’s answer to Sigma brushes, but when Zoeva Cosmetics sent me my own Luxe Complete Brush Set to review, I changed my mind. They look and feel better and quality looks more consistent across. With Zoeva $60-$80 USD goes a long way, you can get already get a budget set. The set I was sent though is about EUR105 because it’s a larger range with 15 brushes. Plus you know the well-known habit of German made things lasting longer than your lifetime? Throw that knowledge together with the look of this professional brush range and you’ve certainly got yourself a major contender in terms of performance in application. No I haven’t tried them with products just yet but already just by their appearance, feel, and my professional experience I already know they’ll do excellently on the job.
An exquisite selection of 15 of our finest brushes, made from a custom blend of natural and synthetic bristles. EUR105
As a blogger, a few months back I actually browsed through the Zoeva site since the brush sets were gaining sparkling reviews at an amazing rate following the brand’s debut across several YouTube channels. It was there that I saw a “blogger” related tab and saw that you could actually propose that they send you stuff to review if they screen your blog, stats, and approve the quality of your site. My site and traffic stats were screened and I was told that I qualified after a month and that they would send me the products of my choice after another month. I may have a second post on this set feature a look where I actually use all the brushes. Read more to have a closer look at my favorite brushes from the set and see one separate brush I also chose for them to send me because it was necessary.
I was kinda “down” and semi “out” for the last two days. I had a sore throat and slight fever on Christmas day and symptoms ballooned the following morning. Thanks to rest, lots of juice, a massage, and some paracetamol it didn’t get any worse and I’m better now. I did a bit of browsing on Ebay over two weeks ago and decided to give in to the holiday offers phone case makers HeadCase had via their online store E-cell Global (“e_cell” on Ebay). Regular price is about $8 per case, but with their holiday discount and FREE shipping offer I paid quite a bit less, nearly half price for all in fact. To be clear, Head Case phone cases are designed in the UK and outsourced to be printed here in the Philippines. What I like is I didn’t receive standard postal notices for these anymore even though they were FREE shipping. They delivered my orders all together directly to mom’s office in Fort. I initially chose four then added the Ariel surfing princess a couple of days later.
HeadCase, From LEFT, S3 i9300 Cases: CARINA NEBULA, CAT GEOMETRIC, SURFING PRINCESS HIPSTER, PINK FASHION FLAMINGO
Can you tell by my SURFING PRINCESS case that I’ve stocked up on phone swag for summer? Ariel splits her tail just to surf? Yes, please! The printing quality is moderate to high quality and the design doesn’t wrap around the whole case completely, the print stops short of about a third of an inch from the clear case edge. The clear case that the design is on is obviously what makes it cheaper. My ultimate favorite is this one they call “TIGER GEOMETRIC” but what’s strange is the face doesn’t look like a tiger. I think they’re mistaken, it looks more like a lion or lioness, I can tell from the chin and the eyes and all I could think of when I saw this was “Aslan” not “Shere Khan”. Generally, tigers have slightly larger, rounder eyes than lions, slimmer snouts, and their eyes are closer together, not as far apart as lions’ eyes. So to me, this is a lion. No one disagreed on Instagram, LOL. I also love that it blazes with multi-facets of the color of the new year and brings back childhood memories of Lisa Frank stickers and stationery.
I do know I won’t find fantastic graphic designs I can browse through locally as I was able to so easily do on their Ebay store. What I like is it’s not a printed, peel-off sticker they just slapped on a clear case, they’ve obviously got a special printer that makes veneer designs that adhere and mold to plastic. On my current case, the “Tiger” Geometric, it even looks like the darker facets in the graphics are beveled or embossed, you can see and feel it, so nice.
These are great but don’t naman expect Casetagram quality (which costs over $33 USD). When I say print quality is moderate (for $5-$6 I paid each) that’s because I still can see printer striping if you look closely at the medium tones (look at the flamingo case where it’s most obvious, that was the dud of the 5). I don’t mind too much about this for the price (about under Php200 each), I’m just really happy that my favorite designs, the cat, the lion, and the mermaid were printed well.
I skimmed through hundreds of designs within my phone category, nearly a thousand Samsung S3 cases on the “e_cell” Ebay site before picking these 5 (they do same designs for other smartphone models including iphones). By the way, if you’ve got the same phone as me make sure you’re looking at the Samsung S3 i9300 cases, NOT S3 MINI cases, easy to be mistaken. Have fun browsing :).
I’ve begun to realize I’m a bit of a scent whiz or have developed a nose. I don’t mean that I’ve memorized the identities of tons of fragrance notes or anything like that but when it comes to matching up fragrances or identifying that something smells a WHOLE LOT like something else, I’m your gal. Not sure how long this “skill” is going to hang around but I’m positively sure I’ve still got it coz I just discovered something wonderful. I’ve sniffed and found out that locally crafted Filipino soy candle brand Alice Blue (around since 2005, I was on Venus or perhaps Pluto…) have a candle that smells way too much like the Marc Jacobs’ Daisy fragrance, 2011’s summer sellout version Eau So Fresh to be exact. I proudly got it, it’s called “Palawan Mystique”.
Palawan Mystique Deluxe Candle| Php529.00 for 5 oz. hand-poured soy candle, candle holder Php199 | Proudly Philippine-Made
Scents of the Underground River and ‘Last Frontier’ island. Fresh marine accord and rainforest with bergamot, orris, musk, boise de rose and amber.
Can I just say this, this is the most quickly fragrant candle I have at the moment, the others I own get fragrant as well (I still love the complexity and build of imported scents) but it takes a good 15-20 minutes before they do fill the room completely with fragrance. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s a soy candle base but this candle makes the room smell good faster, the catch from what I’ve observed is it burns down slightly faster too, but just slightly. This is going to be my first multi-brand makeup and skincare giveaway that involves the use of Instagram! Check out that “Bless This Bag” travel tag, who would’ve thought I’d spot something like that at True Value? LOL
This toiletry bag splits open with 2 compartments for makeup and skincare. It’s jam-packed with lots of great travel-size & full size products that make getting away without looking astray much, much simpler. I don’t know bout you guys but for me the Pièce de résistance of this whole giveaway is the “Belle” hand mirror I picked out from Singapore (of course I have one of my own, I bought 2).
It feels weight-y though the balance is a little bit off center (more on top less on the handle) but who cares, it’s heavy enough to not feel like a prop, small enough to slip into a handbag and it’s so elaborately made, I love it.

So I fussed and hissed trying to Google for what to call that old school technology we 80s kids know oh, so very well. You know, plasticized sheets that toggle only 2 images delivering simple animation…enough to lure out a smile. They happen to be lenticular plastic sheets and they’ve been around for what seems like forever. I happened to be strolling around Metro Gaisano department store in Market Market yesterday and found these super cool double mirror compacts (1 regular side, 1 magnifying) for Php69 each with anime-ish lenticular veneers on them (I picked several out for friends, too). The compacts have a firm stub of a button to push the compact open, they’re lightly heavy-ish in weight and not loosely constructed…w-i-n.
Of course this one is my favorite one so I show her off first. I love how she gently pouts a lightly glossed mouth when she closes her eyes. There were probably about 10 to 15 different girl designs to choose from. These weren’t love at first sight because honestly some of the dolly-ish faces (the toddler ones especially which I DID NOT get) were kinda scary but I fished through all the racks to find the cool-ish ones which I felt would not freak me out nor send me fleeing in fear if I caught them blinking back at me in the evening LOL. I just find these actually useful compact mirrors trippy, artsy, and chic. They remind me of some of the concept artwork found on sites like Ballistic Publishing by digital artists like Melanie Delon. Read more to see a few more photos and the inside of the compact.
