I’d like to thank my friend Rinka for showing me her own Revlon Brow Fantasy Pencil Gel Duo, otherwise I wouldn’t have known about this really. The saleslady said these arrived last week or something. Simple things that work two ways are great for pushing, push push…this is good. This is something women with sparse brows need all the time.
REVLON Brow Fantasy Php570+ (purchased personally at PCX) – This product actually comes in four (4) shades and to my surprise wow, all four for now are available locally. If I heard the saleslady right the shades are light blonde light brown, brunette, and deep brown. Brunette and Deep Brown have already sold out in some stores like the one I went to in Alabang Town Center.
It’s nice to see Revlon doing more drugstore products we actually really need on a daily basis. I love that they’re doing classic staple products that tick the right boxes. Read more to see before and after shots of application and get the full review.
Remember me? The girl behind this beauty blog? LOL, don’t worry I’m still here for that, I just decided to put a doorstop on the beauty posts while everyone was on break, smartest thing to do for the blog? Not really, coz lots of people were home cozying up to the internet or Instagramming to the nines at some beach it would have actually been “statistically” more ideal if I had posted stuff. The main thing was, emotionally I was on break, it was more a personal choice than a beneficial choice for the blog. I decided to relax, so I did. I prepared a hefty artsy makeup look post thinking it might make it to Halloween but it didn’t so I’ve saved it to be posted, knowing that thousands of parties will be happening between now, Christmas Day, and New Year’s YES we’re getting there, folks, so that artsy look will still be relevant. Among other things my mother came home from Spain just recovering from a nasty viral flu (which silently came from me before she left & stalked her in Spain) so I did the groceries, errands, and gassing up in advance (don’t be too impressed, it’s not the picture in your head, I had her driver because she was away lol) before her return. When she came back within 2 days we had cousins IMPROMPTU come over to sleepover, EAT, go to Enchanted Kingdom + friends, EAT, sleepover, and EAT again… and there went the groceries lol.

For Beauty’s sake, in case you’re wondering, yes, I wore theme-park-appropriate makeup coz I knew there’d be photos (alongside a lot of young people, just in case you didn’t know, I’m 30) ! And no I didn’t bring ALL these with me, did the look at home and only took the powder, Happy Skin “Crushing on You” Lippie, MAC Riri Brow Pencil, LM tinted moistie and Avene Sunscreen along > ( the SPF which all the kids asked for in a hot minute…literally), wait, yea that’s half LOL.
The aim was to look fresh in photos, not DONE, that’s why I used a liquid foundation as my concealer, didn’t wanna go heavy but I wanted to make sure it would be longwearing. I thought randomly this would be great to post since I hadn’t PLANNED to do a post on this at all when I pulled this look together. Also, I was organically rushing so it’s quite the birthchild of sun & sweatproof requisites + on-the-go instinct.
Mom, at first, thought I was wearing a too much during breakfast at home because the WHITE-ish Avene sunscreen hadn’t oxidized beneath my tinted moisturizer yet, but once I got to the theme park and began sweating, the sunscreen & makeup + mineral powder began to blend in and I knew it looked just right for photos, and in person, too! By the way this day was absolutely awesome because we hadn’t planned to be this many, we just randomly invited each other and others like friends of boyfriends and girlfriends etc came and joined us! Then best of all, maybe not all will agree LOL, it rained in the evening and we rode the Space Shuttle rollercoaster in the DARK in the RAIN, I didn’t think it was a great idea strapped in my seat on the way up hahaha, but once we’d done it it was actually really, really cool.
I don’t think fall or ‘Ber season makeup needs to be taken literally. Just because we dress heavier it doesn’t mean our faces need more makeup. Although it is a great season for playing around with richer, deeper shades I still like to maintain a balance and in this case intensity can be found on the brows, lashes, and lips. Velvet skin is a trend…not a rule. Matte but fresh. Now that I’ve completely recovered from that nasty flu I’ve put some new products to the test. My experiment in trying to show that MAC Retromatte lipsticks like Riri Woo can be worn more than one way pretty much hit the nail on the head for this short editorial.
The only important thing I forgot to include here was my MAC Pro Longwear bronzer in Soft Sand. CLOCKWISE: KRYOLAN HD Micro Foundation Mattifying liquid in 245, Laura Mercier Loose Mineral Powder in Natural Beige (softly over the T-zone), Revlon Lash Potion Mascara, Benefit Cosmetics Rockateur Blush, RIRI MAC Veluxe Brow Liner in “Deep Brunette”, RIRI MAC Retromatte Lipstick in “Riri Woo”.
I won’t make this a very wordy post. I applied my foundation on with my hands, did dab a bit of under-eye concealer with fingers, just a bit (MAC Studio sculpt). I lightly swept my T zone and chin with Laura Mercier Mineral Powder which I’m convinced does the same thing as those Hourglass ambient lighting pressed powders, just in loose form. Singer Julianne absolutely loves what this powder does every time I apply it on her, it’s so good that I put up with the hassle of its “looseness”, it adds light, not shimmer and natural beige works well even for someone a shade darker.
I lightly contoured with my MAC Pro Longwear bronzer then proceeded to do my brows, intense but clean and constantly brushing them through with the dual end after adding strokes. I added a bit of Rockateur blush, a teensy weensy bit only on purpose just to kill any paleness from being sick, almost unnoticeable because I added only a little. I then curled my lashes and used Revlon Lash Potion Mascara. The focal point for the look is a Riri Woo-d lip, the lipstick is applied intensely in the center of the pout, smudged outwardly with the ring finger and then a little more foundation is dabbed around the edge of the mouth and patted inward to blend with the stain. What do you think? Does this look deliver enough intensity for fall without the need to go heavy with makeup? I think it does. This is just one way to do Fall.
The partial reason why I accumulate backlog is not primarily because I’m lazy, but more because I want to give the products sent to me a good test run first in my day to day life. Wouldn’t it be strange if you just up front blogged about something you’ve just opened up? Not that I’ve never done that, there are some products that are what they are when you first try them, but others have more to prove over time. You cannot imagine how often I’ve been reaching for this since the day Benefit gave it to me. This brow pick is a win, primarily because of the natural look it gives and how simple it is to use, I only wish it came in more than just 2 shades, the one I have is light/medium, there’s another shade perfect for Filipinas who don’t color their hair which is Medium/deep.
“Bring on the brows! This innovative brush-on fiber gel adheres to skin & hair…creating brows where before there were none. It builds easily for thick, lush arches, thanks to a tapered brush for blending & precision tip for shaping. Available in two shades. Using short pressing motions, stroke brush tip along brow to define shape. Comb through to blend & build brows. For the most natural look, start at the inner edge of your brow and move outward. Repeat to add more volume.”

The itty-bitty wand brings the bottom lash wand of another brand to mind, but there’s no relevant connection between this and that, they serve two completely separate functions. All I know is that for sparse or small brows (lacking thickness) this itty-bitty wand is a dream to work with, it applies just the right amount of product so you can build with it and you can add proper details to brows without a fuss. It does give medium strength hold for stubborn hairs that refuse to stay in place. I’ve already tried it on someone with curly thick hair, it didn’t completely straighten the hairs out but overall it gave the brow proper direction and shape. The shades available aren’t very warm, they’re quite neutral which is a better match for my ashy dark blonde haircolor. If you’ve got warmer, blonder hair, none of these shades will match you. I do appreciate that light/medium is extremely similar or close match for MAC’s Lingering brow pencil, Medium/Deep is more of a match for MAC Spiked or Stud.
There’s an effect that can be more natural when brushing tint through brows rather than drawing them on, for medium sparseness it totally works. I’m kind of allergic to calligraphic looking drawn on brows that look too graphically perfect or sharp at the tail because that doesn’t look natural anymore to me, for cosplay or theatrical looks those are fine but for everyday they’re a no-no. Some of them even look like stickers or worse obviously stenciled on. You won’t get that effect with this product.
I’ve tried one or two popular brow tints but I didn’t like how much product came out on the wand and the wet gloopy feeling on my brows because of too much product. There is of course the common sense tip to wipe off the excess against the mouth of the tubes, but in a rush I get frustrated to make a mental note to actually do it. With this I don’t have to wipe the excess off, there’s just enough! I don’t hesitate to allow the tint to touch the skin beneath the brows since that helps in providing an illusion of thickness in my case. If the brow hair population you’ve got is more even you can brush the tint just on the hairs. I turn the wand on its tip to do slimmer strokes where the brow tapers and I turn it flat on its side if I want a thicker spread of product. The key is brushing from root to tip and following the direction of hair growth which is usually up and out towards the side of the face. Benefit Cosmetics have been making lots of nice changes within their range and have been launching a handful of new beauty “swoonworthy” items this year. I attended the exclusive hardhat pre-launch celebration of their upcoming branch at SM Mall of Asia just the other day and came away with these to show you! Almost all here are shown beside the packaging swag they come suited up in.
CLOCKWISE: Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow Php1100 (Always a Bridesmaid…huhu lol), Benefit Hydrating Fake Up Concealer about Php1100, Benefit Cha Cha Go-Go, about Php1000 (Portable Tint + Gloss), Benefit Ultra Plush Lipgloss Php900 (Kiss You), Benefit Gimme Brow (Light/Medium) Brush-on Tint (about Php900), Benefit Longwear Shadow Php1100 (Nude Swings)
In a nutshell, this is awesome…
…this is now smoother and cuter (it feels like it doesn’t dry up as quickly)…
…this is smoother than most…
…this is pretty with no sticky…
…and this powder eyeshadow is very basic beauty. The one I don’t have a closeup photo of is the Cha-Cha Go Go tint+gloss tube, it’s basically Cha Cha Tint in a more handy form plus a clear gloss. I’m loving the Art Deco-ish take on the repurposed reusable packaging some of the products come in, like the eyeshadow boxes.
There are some other new products being launched as well so keep up with the updates via @benefitbeautyph on Instagram and on the Benefit Cosmetics Philippines FB page. I was told that the SM Mall of Asia branch would be officially open on July 26, some were thinking July 25 on the Benefit Cosmetics page but I believe as of today they might still be doing some pretty polishing in the new branch so it would be best to check it out for sure in a day or two :). Stand alone reviews on some of these goodies are upcoming of course :).
