I’ve been using this for over a year and as I said have never given it the spotlight ’till today.  People often ask what i use to achieve a practically perfect and graphic kitty flick despite my hooded eye folds.  This one by K-Palette is the one.  I needn’t go on and on about it to show how easy it is to use…the results speak for themselves.

What I loved about the original formula is even though it wasn’t marked “waterproof” yet, this black liquid liner was already resistant to smudging even in humid conditions (as long as you didn’t rub violently).

The pointed brush tip pen which reminds me of the ones used for calligraphy helps in creating perfect smooth lines and points.This new formula is special because it’s more water resistant but NOW (ironically) using warm enough water it’s easier to wash off at the end of the day without all the bad rubbing. It also (after several seconds), won’t easily transfer to your upper lid later in the day if you’ve got hooded or oriental eyes.

I tried wearing this last week at the LTO while getting my driver’s license. I was there for at least 5-6 hours from morning till afternoon sweating…it didn’t fail me. I do honestly suggest using this directly on the lid without foundation or moist primer underneath because it won’t go on as well. It’s better directly on skin or over lids that have eyeshadow already. My only con is this pen runs out hmmm, I’d say kind of surprisingly quickly. If I thickly line my eyes daily or almost daily I’ll run out of it in about 18-20 days I’d say. However in the end…overall, no other liquid liner pen helps me make thick or thin perfect liner looks as K-Palette’s 1Day Tattoo Eyeliner pen…always a keeper. Umm…I recall purchasing my first one from Beauty Bar awhile back for about Php800++? This improved one was supplied by K-Palette Philippines for review.

I don’t own a ton of MAC eyeshadows. I only had Brule and Club to my name and now this one which makes 3. I was in search of a wearable eyeshadow that could work the lid scene on its own and not darken the situation. Something you could apply evenly with a single ring finger for both lids…something like the ultimate workhorse champagne beige hue. Behold MAC All That Glitters eyeshadow which ironically isn’t all that glitters…

MAC All That Glitters isn’t at all nearly gold enough to be called rose gold. It’s a true rosy champagne beige with a satiny sheen. It’s kind of like MAC Cosmetics’ version of Stila’s Kitten eyeshadow which is pretty,too, but Stila’s Kitten is so soft and crumbly and with too much fallout for a rush job Vivianna of Vivianna Does Makeup raved about this eyeshadow as the sort that gets people commenting even though sometimes they can’t find the words to describe what’s on your lids. It’s also an obviously wearable bridal shade. I got mine for Php900 from the Rockwell MAC Cosmetics outlet.

I actually don’t really get why I haven’t done proper individual reviews for K-palette items because I use them to every liquid pen’s death, both for eyes and brows.  It just occurred to me that I’ve repeatedly thrown the 1Day Tattoo brow and liquid  eyeliners into a handful of favorites and what’s-in-my-travel-bag posts but there hasn’t been a day when I’ve given them the individual spotlight…I was too busy well…using them LOL.  Well, today is still not the day (even though I’ve been sent the new formula) only because a K-Palette newborn is still grabbing my attention.  Say hello to the 1Day Tattoo Automatic Pencil Eyeliners, now available for Php795 at Beauty Bar!  Hats off to you guys these nibs say.  I got so excited when these arrived that I opened them and swatched them immediately the evening I got them, but I did shoot the stuff for this post just this morning.

What’s lovely about these pencils are 1 they are automatic so no sharpening required, and the small nibs ensure no matter how far down you go you can always still draw nearly sharp flicks, 2 They go on smoothly dark, not drag-gy like some cheaper longwearing eyeliners, and 3 They set waterproof but give you a window of about 15 seconds to smudge them if you like before they set!  They’re also way more easy to smudge in the first few seconds than the standard gel pencil liners most of which give yucky blend quality, not these, though.

What I like about working with supreme makeup pencil products like these is they’re more forgiving for the less skilled lining hand, maybe for some of you who hate working with liquid liner.    This makes it especially easy when doing seemingly impossible flicks on hooded eyes like mine.  Read more for extra photos, details, and the professional video tutorial I referred to online in order to achieve this feline cat look.

The longevity of these pencils is also pretty good. Well, I tested these these swatches on my arm…overnight in bed. I’ve also washed my hands, taken a shower again, and soaped these while in the shower. This is what remains from yesterday after all that. I conclude you need an oil based cleanser or true makeup remover to be rid of it.

I was inspired to do a Feline Cat Flick eye with these automatic pencils the way the great MUA Charlotte Tilbury does her signature eye look. That lady makeup artist is Wonderwoman with the use of cosmetic pencils, for me she’s the best with them.

With pencils you also get also a softer, visually velvety stroke that amps the sophistication of  any eye look instantly, it’s not as papercut harsh as liquid liner can tend to be sometimes.  These K-Palette 1Day Tattoo Automatic Eyeliner pencils are available at Beauty Bar for Php795! Never have I come across a neutral makeup palette set so appropriately named and wonderfully petite.  There are two matte shades (one good for brows), two satin metallic shades (one to highlight), and 2 richly dark shimmer spiked shades.  The title basically also evokes “Naked” in 5 words.  It comes with one #3 soft blending brush and the cherry on top is the NARS Pro Prime Eyeshadow Base, a favorite among the world’s top makeup pros which Lisa Eldridge also likes using.  It could have also been called the Half-Naked palette, it has less fallout than Urban Decay’s Naked eyeshadow range and there are half the number of shades.  I think Eve would have approved.

Mom picked up this NARS palette for me via Duty Free shopping in Thailand, she converted the cost and said it amounted to about Php2400-2500.  I think what makes it worth the 2k mark is the brush and NARS Pro-prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base that comes with it.  So many people love this eyelid primer.  What also never fails to impress me about NARS stuff is they always include a good mirror, even for their single eyeshadows and blushes.  This palette is tiny, it’s about 2″ x 4.5″ inches in size, similar to the size of an iPhone 4s but slimmer and lighter.

The “And God Created the Woman Kit” has a very wearable selection of shades and I did my brows using the middle shade from the 2nd row (.  Read more to get the complete shade names and details about how I progressed to this evening look beginning with a daytime version using only 2 shades.

Apart from an element of the Divine in the palette’s name, the bestselling shade that drew a lot of women towards purchasing this palette is Kalahari, a metallic lightly warm taupe (top right).  Coconut Grove is the shade I use for the brows, if it’s too dark you can mix it with a little bit of Galapagos (Bellisima is too grey) In real life the colors are just slightly cooler…just slightly, it was a bit hard gauging the color balance with a dim monitor, but I got pretty close.

The texture is pigmented but not too soft, they’re buildable without being too chalky. Fallout is present but minimal, not nearly as much powder fallout as Urban Decay

Pardon the veins LOL and bones…the primer ensures that the shadow lasts longer on the lid and colors are more vibrant.  If you touch the eyeshadow over primer after it has set you won’t get easy transfer on your fingertips.  The pro-prime eyeshadow base doesn’t make it completely waterproof but it does become sweat and crease resistant.

To begin with I did a light day look using just Kalahari all over the lid and worked it into the crease, plus Alhambra on the brow bone and inner corner blended towards the center of the eye lid.  I also applied Coconut Grove as a brow color. If you have the Naked 2 palette you can do this look as well using Verve or Bootycall as the highlighter and Suspect in place of Kalahari.

For this first day look you can finish off with a not so heavy mascara on both the upper and bottom lashes.  Next to amp up the look for evening (a night out with Jars of Clay) I popped in my Freshlook Colorblends Hazel enhancers which people around me don’t often notice are actual contact lenses because my natural dark brown color still comes through.  I like how these contacts don’t scream “doll” or “anime cosplay” and that it takes several hours with someone for them to suddenly realize I’ve got contacts on.  They’re the perfect believable pick me up for photos.

I intensified the eyeshadow look by blending in Galapagos, a chocolatey brown into the crease buffing it slightly upward toward the brow bone but just enough to meet with Alhambra and with a soft angled brush I then stippled Coconut Grove, a dark dark brown, along the outer corner of the eye and along the upper plus lower lashlines.  No liquid, pencil or gel eyeliner for cat flicks in this look afterwards, just a good strong lash curl and lots of good mascara (my well-loved L’Oreal Telescopic) to finish it off.  I wanted a soft earthy look that was noticeable for evening but did not scream “club hopper” because I wasn’t going clubbing.  Here I had L’Oreal Magic Lucent foundation on in the shade Gold Shell (my slightly tan shade) and nothing on the lips…because I’d probably apply balm later on.

On the Sephora website the price for this NARS “And God Created the Woman” Eye kit which contains the palette, brush, and Pro-Prime eyeshadow base is USD$59 which converts to about Php2,460 shipping not included.  I do recommend getting this via Duty Free.  You can check the price difference via Rustan’s NARS boutiques locally and see if there’s any major difference.  I definitely have a feeling I’m going to hit pan on this palette sooner than usual, it’s not been sitting around since it’s been bought.

This brand, Make Up Store, reminds me a lot of…INGLOT or even the in-house selection of Sephora for some reason and they’re now available here at the 2nd level of Podium mall in Ortigas.  It’s the whole shebang put together, pro quality products, minimalist packaging, great pigment and tons and tons of shades to choose from for a mid-range price.   The Make Up Store’s products aren’t cheap but they won’t break the bank either.  It’s a reliable brand to begin a pro kit with if you’re considering a makeup career or course but can’t afford having a buffet of MAC or Make Up For Ever products at your disposal.  I recall being in one of the Make Up Store’s huge boutiques in Singapore over a year and a half ago and I was overwhelmed.  I nearly walked out with a color corrector/concealer but I was saving my pocket money for something else in Duty Free that time.

The textures and pigment of the products they sent me are good, the eyeshadow is a satin with a hint of a duochrome effect (a peachy coral with gold or a rose gold) the lipstick is a sheer but pigmented high shine finish which applies looking different from the lipstick bullet as you’ll see in awhile.

The packaging is lovely and feels sturdier than MAC cosmetic packaging.  You have the brand name embossed or pressed on both.  My only minor complaint is the eyeshadow has quite a bit of fallout pigment when you use a brush, but it performs similarly anyway to Urban Decay eyeshadow shades which also have quite a bit of fallout.  Read more to see me try these products on.

The MAKE UP STORE single Cybershadow in “Golden” is a very pretty rose gold shade with a hint of a peach undertone.  What I love is the satiny sheen it has, there isn’t a sparkly fleck of shimmer anywhere but it’s luminous enough to highlight the inner corner.

Brow Product: K-Palette 1-Day Tattoo Eyebrow Duo, Mascara: L’Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara (U.S.)

The thing I was blown away by was the fact that you don’t necessarily need a 2nd shade if you want to highlight.  The color Golden has a lot of dimension in spite of it’s subtle satin finish.  Now onto the lipstick which was a surprise for me.  I’m sure the lipstick range of the MAKE UP STORE comes in different finishes, this one is a sheer berry that looks awfully different from the bullet when applied on the lips.  It’s slightly deeper in real life than here in the photo.  It’s really a sheer berry, the reason also why it’s looking slightly milky is I applied concealer over my lips first because I wanted to see its true tint without my lips’ natural color interfering.  The middle photo is closest to the shade in real life.

What’s obvious right away is the pretty high shine finish that isn’t too greasy and is very soft on the lips.  It’s also very pretty when blotted out.
