MY 2016 BTS VLOG FOR TEAM KIKO

As you can tell for the stretch of over a week I’ve decided to fully focus on the elections as a matter of importance.  I was given an opportunity to have a sortie run with Team Kiko once again after almost 11 years (in 2007 I did a web series on YouTube with them, very low-res).  My contribution this time wasn’t as consuming, but I gave what I could.  I shot a simple vlog or behind-the-scenes video as a follow-up to my cousin Gab’s full-on crisp, HD take for the campaign here as a tribute to a lot of the sometimes unseen hard work of Team Kiko.

Oh, by the way the pink VMV Hypoallergenics lipstick I’ve been loving and wearing here I’ve already blogged about at this link :).  This was shot on my birthday.  Watch the campaign BTS/vlog video embedded below.  MUSIC Credits: “PANGAKO” Paolo Valenciano with Julianne Tarroja for Star Music (official lyric video here).

A NAMELESS FEAR AND CAMPAIGNING FOR HOPE

From a very young age I was often taught to learn to lead and get involved and not just sit back and watch the show.  I ran for student government (positions in the wings mostly) both in my tiny high-school and in my large university, or if I happened to not be officer in grade-school or high-school I was writing essays, little school skits, or once editing our little school newsletter (it was a small school but still, got it done).  Politics, wherever it turned up in my life, wasn’t some toxic blowfish word mentioned in our family that carried a foul stench, unlike for some.  It was highlighted in our family for my generation as an avenue or space for possible improvement, anything was possible if worked for with zeal and integrity. Beginning Saturday I shall be duly serving in the ranks of my uncle Kiko Pangilinan (IG: @kiko.pangilinan, #40PANGILINANsaSenado) who is campaigning for the senate once more.  I will be shooting behind the scenes material on the campaign trail in 7 destinations in a span of 5 days, whew.  I see no reason why I shouldn’t involve you in this, I’d like to take you along somehow, if I can manage it.  It matters to me and I see that my beloved country is limping.  I crave protection of whatever beauty we find in the freedom we have today.

Nearly a decade ago now in Tito Kiko Pangilinan’s 2007 campaign I conceptualized and spearheaded a web series project called KTubed which you can watch in glorious low resolution here and here, an online portal to see him as a normal person as well as a celebrated leader.  Passionately, I used OPM music from people I knew to generously season the videos with young flavor.  The project was of enough significance that the search for the mere Multiply website I was embedding the KTubed YouTube videos on in 2007 was being slapped by hackers, search engines were often being masked from searching for the site.  Following the release of that web series campaign I was interviewed for my small role and the use of YouTube on ANC.  That was a little project I was quite proud of which I produced, shot, and edited personally on a well-loved Toshiba laptop.  By the way, of course I will be mentioning my presidentiable but I choose to do so on my social media platforms instead.   Read on to the end of the post.

VIDEOS TO RESET YOUR HEART THIS WEEK

Holy Week or Spring Break as it’s called abroad is a time of renewal and rest, but always hopefully a time of reflection.  Lots of people won’t really relate to what the Bible says about Holy Week, because they haven’t encountered Jesus in the way that matters or to tell you the truth sometimes frankly the words on the pages of Scripture don’t make sense or can point out our more obvious sins, but it’s not all about telling us about right and wrong, the Bible was written to remind us that we are loved.  Those of us who feel negatively about the Bible (more specifically broken people who spout the Bible) tend to shy away from festivities or activities of reflection in connection with Jesus due to the fact that a lot of humans representing Jesus have let us down or we think we’ve let Him down in our own way.  The truth is we can’t shock God with blow by blow accounts of how we’ve let Him down.  What He is waiting for is whether we’ll take his hand and allow Him to lift us up again.  Today, in a bit I am sharing two videos with you to soothe your soul and encourage you. Below is the short trailer of the longer video.

HolyWeek_01

I believe it isn’t ideal to shy away from God’s Word even when we don’t understand it, because His Word will always come through for you, even if you don’t understand at first.  The garden, the flood, the parting of the red sea, and the baby in a manger are historical accounts of God’s power and love coming through for the human race, and He hasn’t stopped.  Think of His words in the Bible as a foreign language, the truths are another language from another dimension.  You’ll only get the hang of the language if you try to talk to Him first in your own.  There was once a rapper/comedian who turned over a new leaf that said in a video somewhere that for him it doesn’t make sense when confessing or ranting to God and trying to avoid being profane or rude in his desperation at times because He actually knows the words in his head before they come out.  Think of God as the friend who’s watching you punch walls or rip up paper while trying to tell Him how awful it all us and how fed up you are.  Read on to get to the two videos I chose for men and women that I believe will help reset your heart and bring peace this week.

ALMOST SPEECHLESS SUNDAY

Taken from another Sunday a couple of weeks ago this post is going up directly from bed, but I’ll have to get ready in a bit because we’re leaving AGAIN this time spending a clan afternoon together to remember my late Lolo’s birthday.  This week was a whirlwind one transportation wise…a lot of going to and fro and frankly, it can be mentally tiring and disorienting going back and forth(I won’t say physically because I’m comfortably transported at all times) especially choosing what bags and things to take with you because you’re posted at both ends you practically need to take half your life with you to get a lot done because of the traffic.

Almost_SpeechlessSunday

I almost got sick but swiftly slept on it with a paracetamol so that didn’t happen, thankfully.  I’ve had to have my head down on some errands.  I’ve hardly had two minutes together because of this week to sit with my beloved BIR tax receipts on excel…that seems endless.  I’ve hardly even checked blogs and vlogs I normally read because I just couldn’t give up the time.  Mindset shaken and stirred I still wanted to give you guys a glimpse from the South today of Mom doing her thing at home when she has time to do it, who thought fresh labuyo chili could make such a nice arrangement?  And yes, she wears white even at home.  I’ll be back on the beauty bum soon with a new video for you if all goes well.  Come to think of it I haven’t even worked out this week since last Saturday’s spinning session at Saddle Row…does choosing to walk 4 blocks at noon instead of taking Uber in Fort and Alabang count?  Ugh.… To full post & COMMENTS...

FS COSMETICS BLUSH RELAUNCH “TWINKLE TAN”

I attended the NEW FS Cosmetics launch party a couple of days ago and was quite excited for this launch because this is a local industrial makeup brand I’ve always had in my kit.  They have products that flat out just do the job.  The powder formulas are exceptional, one time a certain network executive I do makeup for asked me if I was using Chanel while I was applying the FS powder foundation in Mocha on her due to the scent (the powder is lightly scented but not overwhelming).  I don’t have my full press package yet (it’s on its way), but I’m fine with the delay because I didn’t want to choose shades and colors from a jpeg file of swatches online.  I did take pictures at the event, and one of the first things that won me was this FS Cosmetics blush in Twinkle Tan , another beige pink which compares well to NARS madly but is just slightly more rosy and a touch more obvious in photos and super beautiful in person.

FS blush in Twinkle Tan, second from left (will update this space with the price in a while).

Below is a glimpse of other new products they also have, like the loose powders with built in brushes that detach and re-attach to the lid, textures are comparable to Laura Mercier translucent setting powder.

To be rid of the elephant in the room (since it is there no matter what I type anyway) the FS Cosmetics range was formerly associated with Fanny Serrano for several years but their collaboration contract with him ended in 2011, as most collaboration contracts do.  So FS Cosmetics, now known as Features and Shades, has relaunched with the same makeup formulas we like, more sturdy and new-looking packaging, plus existing bestseller shades and some new shades and products also.I managed to personally experience the new line at the event  and make a list of what REALLY impressed me there and one of them was the blush I mentioned (that is until another blush caught my eye, haha).  Read on to see me wearing it.

IKEA ADD-ONS FROM FURNITURE SOURCE PH

I’m back in the rolling rumble of the city and I’m so glad I cleaned again last time so now that I’m back again in the flat it’s still cozy to come back to.  I make it a habit to do a real scrub down and disinfecting of our little personally old-yet-new rented space every time upon returning then once again before I leave (the polluted fluff of the area does gather even if just under a week).  We clean religiously to avoid getting sick or itchy in any way.  We may not be the neatest two on a daily basis, but we can’t stand dirty surroundings.  We can live with clutter but our tolerance for dirt is low because of our allergic reactions (afflictions apparently can be teachers in disguise).  My teenage brother maintains our place by sweeping and mopping when I’m not around, washing the dishes, taking out the trash, and doing his laundry.  We like our floor to be so clean we can take our bare feet to it.  Once we’re six months in we’ll probably take my Mom’s high-powered rainbow vacuum cleaner over the entire place, but it will have an easy job by then since we clean so regularly.  This time upon returning to the flat I was delighted to finally to oversee a relative’s repair guy install our IKEA Melodi pendant ceiling lamp (Php950) which has just lifted the central room of our kitchen-dining area entirely.

FurnitureSourcePhils_IKEA_Melodi_05

The IKEA Melodi pendant lamp is I think their most affordable ceiling lamp in the whole category, but it still makes a dramatic difference when you hang it thoughtfully.  It hangs here with an bright part-warm part-cool 9-watt LED bulb that I’m glad isn’t too yellow (GES from ACE Hardware have this warm-cool blend) that’s beautifully diffused by the faux/frosted plastic shade.  Lots of people ask me if IKEA is now officially in Manila, the answer is no, but Furniture Source, the helpful resellers of IKEA and other foreign brands of homeware, have been around for ages bringing in some new designs by ikea together with bestseller faves.  You might remember this post on the Php3,500 IKEA Glasholm desk I purchased from Furniture Source Philippines last year for my room in the South(@furnituresourcephils on IG) and this follow up post still with the same IKEA desk but paired with a Flototto pro chair which was a gift.  Read on to see more photos and more home items and repair tasks I kept busy with yesterday, plus Furniture Source PH sent me a surprise because of my blog posts featuring them!
