MY LOCAL LIP KIT MADE REAL BY INGLOT

While we’re all enjoying the nude or blush lip trend once again allow me to show you yet another local alternative to those lip kit things that broke the internet.

INGLOT_HDliptintMatte_05

I’ve “shipped” my own lip kit couple, Inglot’s new HD Matte Lip Tint (Php1150 available at INGLOT beginning today) in #17 together with my fave MAKEOVER lipliner in Natural from SM.  Read on to see how this lip kit dupe looks on my lips.

THAT ONE BOBBI BROWN LIPGLOSS

Lipgloss is an iffy thing for some people.  They either hate it or love it.  In my case it seriously depends on how it ticks the boxes for me, one…the shade makes my lips look prettier, two…lasts several hours, three…I’m fine if it’s sticky as long as I can managing mouthing “hello” and “help me” in one second.  I’m not a lipgloss fanatic but I’ve come across two in my lifetime that I’ve used up and I love it on non-occasion days.  Early on it was a dual-ended Urban Decay one from the late 90s that I didn’t open and and only began using in early 2000.  The other is this annoyingly limited edition Bobbi Brown lipgloss in#9 Pink Sugar (from a collection) that I received in a press kit nearly three years ago.  It’s a light baby nude pink with golden micro shimmer.

I was overjoyed to find my Bobbi Brown Pink Sugar gloss again in one of my pouches while clearing out.  It was still good to use, I know that sounds gross, but I smelt and checked it, it’s still good to use on myself.  I have it on hand but am quickly running low on it.  It’s just so wearable on its own and over natural lipstick shades and I’m so sad it isn’t part of their permanent collection.  Read on to see why I like it and how it wears.

MATTE LIPS MADE EASY BY MAYBELLINE

We’re doing a back to back lip post, I know.  I usually try not to do that for variety’s sake but I think these in color contrast are way different.  These Lip Gradation Sticks by Maybelline (Lip Studio Color Blur in U.S.) are by far the easiest, most comfortable matte bright lipsticks I’ve ever put on from the department store, and they’re not patchy.  I’m kind of late in discovering these, but that’s okay.

TOP DOWN: MAYBELLINE Lip Gradation in Mauve 1, Orange 1, and Fuschia 1, Php349.50 from local department stores.

They’re perhaps the next best thing to Colourpop Lippie Stix in form locally.  I spotted them at Maybelline’s Brooklyn Brow event yesterday.  Maybe the Maybelline team wondered why I was anything but focused on brows after I grabbed these testers from their table, haha.  Read on to see why I was distracted.

MAC VELVET TEDDY LIPSTICK

Note my epic fail when I approached the saleslady with too much excitement (an aunt of mine right then wanted me to choose makeup items for myself as a thank you gift) : “Do you have MAC SILK Teddy lipstick?” MAC lady sadly shakes her head “No, Ma’am, sorry.  We don’t carry Silk Teddy.” My face falls, still not realizing my mistake.  She does a mind scan, then “Ah, but Ma’am we have Velvet Teddy!”.  I slap my head and face palm “Yes, yes, yun pala…VELVET TEDDY, that’s what I meant.  Omy, you have it?  Yayyy”  To think I almost missed it.  I fondly blame Anna of Vivianna Does Makeup for enabling me to hunt this down.  Thankfully, I received it as a gift.

It was quite tough to source the “original” post that proved one of Kylie Jenner’s go-to lipstick shades was MAC Velvet Teddy coupled with Spice lipliner (yup, other than her lipliner only picks MAC Whirl and MAC Soar).  I didn’t even want to put her name in the title of this blog post in case I was wrong.  Read on to see me try it.

PRETTY AND PROPER PROM MAKEUP BY ME

This one is a mega post, long but fun!  In a world where everything beautiful is said to be subjective to taste I still have my personal standards, especially when it comes to makeup for little women.  Call me old-fashioned but when it comes to prom makeup I still strongly think that it ought to celebrate youth and not mask it entirely.  I feel like breaking out into a rash whenever I hear about young people pulling all sorts of strings to try to look older at prom.  I spent the other night helping prep my cousin Stella who was invited to an all boys’ school prom.  I did her makeup upon request.

Processed with VSCO with k3 preset

There’s a fine line difference between looking older and looking of age and I always sincerely hope that girls decide on the latter just as Stella did.  Read on for a before and after shot, products used, details on how I did it and a sneak peek at Stella’s personal makeup kit at the end.
