In the wake of the awful tragedy that besieged Newtown, Connecticut at Sandy Hook elementary blogging about products has not been top of mind this last weekend. Everything else seems so trivial after these 20 children and 6 of their school teachers and administrators just recently passed away. I mourn with you, America, and no matter what terrible things the world has to say to you at this time and even if many of these things are true EVERY country has SOMETHING wrong with it. This happened to you now, and I’m in no position to say why…but I can cry with you and pray for you.
ADULTS who were killed: Victoria Soto – 27, Rachel Davino – 29, Lauren Rousseau – 30, Dawn Hochsprung – 47, Anne Marie Murphy – 52, Mary Sherlach – 56
I don’t have photos of the adults right now but all I can say is…they are superheroes in my eyes. One of the teachers who passed away was my age, Victoria Soto. Lord, please calm my confusion and speak to me…and speak to their loved ones. Send people to help the families of all these wonderful children and teachers move through their pain.
In all honesty green is one of my least favorite shades when it comes to makeup and clothes. Because I have a very yellow undertone with oriental skin it’s not exactly a shade that complements me. However if I absolutely had to choose a shade of green I would definitely lean towards emerald, the more cooler in the spectrum which sits somewhat in between kelly forest green and teal, do not confuse forest green or British racing green with emerald, totally different shades altogether. Emerald has just been announced the Pantone color of the year for 2013 and while I might not wear it often I am glad it is the sort of green I prefer. I only own one piece of emerald clothing, and it’s a tailored linen tube top Mom got me from Indonesia. On my face I used L’oreal Lucent Magique foundation, Missha Perfect Concealer, Anastasia Express Brow kit for brows, and an Estee Lauder Pure Color lipstick in Mystic Mauve (from a Travel Exclusive set).
I’m wearing MBMJ stud earrings and over my emerald top I’m wearing my new M|phosis necklace (Php590) in a gunmetal shade which I have been finding quite easy to wear even over plain white T-shirt tops. I don’t usually force the issue and insist that I rock the color of the year with my wardrobe…never the case really but it’s fun to be able to see how the shade can work for you and just how many emerald green things the fashion industry will cough up for next year. I don’t think I’d ever try emerald as makeup on myself, at most perhaps a gel liner or liquid liner just for fun but on a day to day basis I don’t think so. Do you think you’ll be rocking 2013’s color of the year in any way?… To full post & COMMENTS...
Whilst I feel there isn’t the need to have particularly mixed feelings about hand soap in general I say is it’s always fun to have a little variety. I was blessed to be given these 3 hand soap variants at a recent Watsons event. They’re not organic and the only thing I feel they lack is antibacterial properties but they do the job of getting grime off well in three seconds under the tap.
iNGREDIENTS: Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Chloride, Parfum, DMDM Hydantoin, Glycerin, Benzophenone-3, CI 19140, CI 42090
I immediately opened this one to install in our guest bathroom at home, because if there’s any hope of natural antibacterial action I thought tea tree and witch hazel ought to do the job. The scent of this one is clean outdoorsy and fresh but not overly complex. Of course I then discovered via the ingredients list that these hand soaps do not contain natural fragrance or ingredients and are merely scented as whatever they’re labeled to be scented of. Go figure, while I’m not offended I do feel a teensy weensy bit misled by the nature-evoking packaging. You can’t have it all every time, so for organic skincare lovers this may not be the best hand soap to consider but I can attest to its cleaning abilities and that it doesn’t dry out my hands after or make them feel itchy (as Safeguard tends to do). What I do particularly like is the tubby bottle which ensures it won’t topple over when you pump product out even on near empty days (there’s nearly nothing that can ruin my day quicker than a bottle that falls over that way).
In case you haven’t heard, Watsons PHare having 3-day weekend sales for the next two weeks! The first weekend has already passed so you won’t want to miss the next two Watsons sales from September 21-23 and 28-30. Little did we know about Jeremy Renner’s background. Who would’ve thought that the man who played The Avengers’ very own sharp-shooter, Hawkeye, and the lead in the Bourne Legacy film, actually began his showbiz career as a makeup artist in a shop then perhaps eventually on set?
“I could do makeup because I did theater… I could paint and I could draw, so I’m like, ‘OK, I’ll do makeup on girls all day… It bought me a lot of free time to go audition when I needed to because I only had to work a few hours a week. I didn’t have to wait tables, so it was actually a great gig.” – YAHOO NEWS, April 27, 2012
Yes, of course I know it’s not as sweet as when you hear it from the actor’s very own lips. So here I bring you a clip of his interview with Ellen very early on in 2010 right after Hurt Locker put this artistic hottie on the Hollywood map. From the time 3:10 onwards in the clip he shares the ultimate tip for 5-minute makeup with Ellen and her audience and it’s actually a no-brainer.
I’m out for the weekend because of my brother’s 3-day football tournament at Nuvali, today’s the last day. I had a bit of an encounter with the famous hungry koi at Nuvali who feed and multiply like crazy. When you stand over the deck they have eyes for you already in anticipation of a generous sprinkle. I’m proud of these smartphone photos, I did boost the brightness a bit in post processing but that’s ’bout it. This pretty much visualizes what took place after the games yesterday. The Under-16 division of Kaya Elite drew in a game vs. Loyola MSA, so nobody won, nobody lost. The mood was pretty somber for both.
Then a prickly player from Loyola decided to randomly and ever so crudely spit on one of our players, who was quietly changing and arranging his clothes WITH HIS MOM BESIDE HIM. Our team captain saw it, and our team captain is said player’s cousin. Seventeen year-old kapitan pushes the offensive Loyola player, and a brawl ensues which includes coaches, players, and parents.
My brother and his friends who were safely out of the mess watched nearby in near disbelief. The Nuvali police came and had to break it up. My opinion? Spitting on an opposing player is petty, cheap, and a waste of good saliva and it’s even dumber when you do it with the player’s parents and complete team right there. As for the rest…although anger is valid self-control never hurt anyone. Anyone up for a football game?… To full post & COMMENTS...
Mother’s Day for many countries is about a month away on May 13 with the exception of the U.K. which celebrated Mother’s Day way earlier in March. London happens to be the upcoming site for the 2012 Olympic Games and as of yesterday there were a 100 days left before the commencement of the games on July 27, 2012.
The reason why I’m announcing Mother’s Day this early is because on top of viewing this moving TV Commercial by P&G London which was released the other day, celebrating the Moms behind the Olympics I want everyone to take the time to thank and love our Moms this coming Mother’s Day. I can relate because my brother’s an athlete and he aspires to play football internationally one day, he’s been playing football since he was 4 years old and non-stop since he was 9, he’ll be 16 this year.
He now plays for the Kaya Elite, the youth club of Kaya FC in the UFL League which includes players like Aly Borromeo, Nate Burkey, Anton Del Rosario, Jason Sabio, Lexton Moy and more…
The LiveTattoo.ph 30s TVC is finally on the air, 2.5 days, 6 hours of sleep, around 15-20 support talents. I understand that in the post production process lots of the faces I made up didn’t make it into the frame, except for one stretch in particular Ellore’s clip, but I’m cool with that. That’s all across the board and it’s part of my job. The set was AWESOME! What a feat and of course dense little me tried to warn Syke, visual FX shoot supervisor “You guys are going to be cleaning up a lot of cables…” when it happened to deliberately be a SteamPunky theme with golden wiring to embellish the set”DUH”, knock-knock Julia lol. In digital post production, which was what I used to do, you learn to accept the final outcome of the work as approved by the brand and in the end it is being part of an excellent whole that matters to me. The Live Tattoo 30s TVC is embedded at the bottom. The lead talents for the TVC made up by Jigs Mayuga are Saab Magalona, Coach Rio, and Danica Magpantay.
This is Ellore, am glad they got her for a close-up even just for a moment. I’m sure she didn’t expect it. We became good friends on set as we talked into the wee hours of the morning with Syke.I did blur her eyebags a bit in this shot for this still…it wasn’t as bad because it was already edited but to do the photo justice I’m just disclosing that I did. All these support talents had barely a few hours worth of sleep for 2 days, but sometimes that’s just how we roll, folks.
I’m just extremely proud to say I worked on this fabulous commercial with the team that did it. A big shout out of thanks to the Harrison Communications team: Pau Pamatmat, Grace Consolacion, Paolo Fabregas, and Mark Pahati, Provill Productions, Eddie Mar Cabiltes my hairstylist, Mara Reyes our wardrobe stylist, AssistDirek ManMan, Direk Adrian Calumpang, the Tattoo clients, Underground Logic digital post production for the edit and effects, and in particular Syke Dolero, my former officemate from UGL who kept me in high spirits at the crack of dawn.… To full post & COMMENTS...
