BLOG SALE AND A “ME BEFORE YOU”-ish TOPSHOP SWEATER

Just wanted to quickly announce that my spring cleaning blog sale is up here at the second tab  on the upper left corner of the site (after About Julia)  and this sale consists of ten tops I haven’t been using in awhile but are still eye candy and in good condition…INCLUDING what I believe to be the main event of this sale: a TOPSHOP real knit wool sweater that I spotted and very likely being worn by Emilia Clarke in the Me Before You upcoming film trailer.  This particular piece I’m convinced is the main event of my blog sale.  If you’re one who travels abroad a lot this is for you, sadly we don’t have whether chilly enough locally for me to use it more often.

I’m like 99.9% sure it’s the same sweater, given that Me Before You is pretty much a British film with British actors and Topshop being a UK brand.  Obviously there is film grading in most movies, so I didn’t spot it right away, only when I applied a cooling filter (to match the grading in the film) to the warmer photo of the texture of my sweater (which killed all the orange dots) did I realize that it most likely is what it is.  If it isn’t that exact sweater  it’s twinning quite closely to be sure.  To buy this sweater or the other items I have for sale go here for the links to ebay or to the tab after About Julia.

A BIT OF BLOG SALE

Just a quick one this is to let you know I have a bit of a non-beauty blog sale happening at the link “upstairs” (you guys are in the “mezzanine” now) in the upper left tab “BLOG SALE” among the pages, click it then scroll down (the page doesn’t refresh or looks like it doesn’t move).  Sellin’ never hurt no one who needed a bit of extra cash (and needed to clear out space).  If ever I am selling something here it is not PR material so there is no beauty, just a bit of apparel and bags.  I’m still going to add more stuff as I go along.  Ebay links are all in the BLOG SALE page here. Payments are expected to be made via bank deposit.

BLOGsaleIG

This is stuff I was given or stuff I bought with my own money in the past.  Right now the selection hit a bit on boring because someone way too excited (kidding, dear, LOL) bought 3 of the really nice things within hours of my posting them on ebay, haha.  Note, that person hasn’t paid yet as of the moment so currently there’s still a slim possibility of those “SOLD” items returning to the sale.… To full post & COMMENTS...

These were too pretty to not photograph the very next day.  The beautiful ARANÁZ Palma releases have had me sighing since last year.  I came home with the tall Palma travel toiletry pouch which I spotted early November last year.  I got the pouch on special offer yesterday, I promised not to mention how much their promo is so you guys can just go and find out.  Read on to have a closer look.… To full post & COMMENTS...

FIVE UNDER THE SUN FACTS ABOUT ME AND YOU

I’ve never been the most toned beach bum out there but I’ve loved summers in the Philippines ever since my tender years.  My parents took me to the beach every year until I was a teenager at least 2-3 times a year.

Bellevue Hotel Bohol

Swimsuit by Roxy Ph, shades by Sunnies (gifts from both brands).

I thought I’d just let loose and tell you a couple of real things about myself and summer then you can tell me your 5 summery facts in the comments.  Scoot over, Olaf.… To full post & COMMENTS...

THE SHAPE SHOP x ELLA ACTIVEWEAR

Last year my cousin Donny Pangilinan picked me as his Secret Santa baby (funny because the year prior he was mine) and as a gift for Christmas 2015 from him I received this activewear top designed by his sister, my other lovely cousin, Ella Pangilinan (@ellapangilinanx).  She collaborated with The Shape Shop at first of which she is now a partner (@the.shape.shop on Instagram) on a limited collection of activewear which involved active tops and leggings with a twist last quarter.  Ella is a working student who handles the branding and marketing for the Shape Shop while at the same time purveying pretty activewear through her personal line.  Her aim is to develop minimally styled activewear you can freely combine together with other casual pieces you have in your closet meaning they are in contemporary neutral hues and simple styles.  Soon her permanent line under The Shape Shop will be christened Sola.

The Shape Shop x ELLA Bralette

I’ve always felt somewhat detached from swimwear and activewear for the same reasons a ton of you out there do, for all things shapely and the lack of assets where assets ought to be (lol) and excess where you’d rather not have it, plus the style selection.  This ELLA Bralette top in particular immediately received a couple of inquiries from famous bloggers and vloggers I was with when I wore it on my first day at our NIVEA gathering a couple of days ago in Bohol.  Read on.… To full post & COMMENTS...

The Last Quarter Look | Style After Quite Awhile

Getting the blogging boots back on with some style bits.  The title of this post was supposed to be for a makeup look, and that Last Quarter Makeup Look tutorial is following shortly…fashion first though.

A couple of pre-loved hand-me-down skirts formed the base for this short but lovely editorial.  Let’s start off with this first look that I probably wouldn’t mind wearing on repeat without the help of a little fashion tape.  Click through to read more to see all photos and read the full editorial.… To full post & COMMENTS...

My ZARA Wardrobe Upgrade | Style Scenes After the Sale

I think in recent years I have underestimated the power of dressing the part.  My best friend Alma told me personally that in our little group I’ve always been the medyo mas “fashion forward” or more different when it comes to clothes because of my artistic side…ever since high-school.  However, I think I’ve lagged a bit when it comes to the age-appropriate aspect of dressing myself because I hang with so many younger people, my cousins in particular.  An aunt of mine mentioned a couple of months back that I might begin to consider NOT wearing extremely casual or trendy clothes as often, even if they are comfortable.  She recommended retiring T-shirts with Mickey Mouse on them or loud pop-art for public viewing LOL.

Even if I bring on the professional charm and have great makeup on this mug of mine there is still that doubt that tends to hang mid-air betweenme and clients sometimes.  Of course, I deliver the work and they are surprised and happy (and relieved) but their initial lack of trust because of how young I look is unsettling sometimes and can interfere with the work.   So I concluded that a change in personal presentation across my wardrobe just might help as people close to me suggested.

Black Suede Boots, SALE PRICE: PHP995.00, OLD PRICE : about Php2950 or 2995, (sorry, the old tag went missing) MADE IN VIETNAM

I first chose the black suede boots because for Php995 they looked exceedingly more expensive and when I wore them they felt much more than they actually cost when on my feet.  Then I chose a handful of top clothing pieces I needed, which you will see in the full post.  Two weeks ago, Filipino stylist, Michael Salientes, a good friend and former fashion director with Details magazine NYC (he was in the Big Apple for over 10 years and witnessed the Conde Nast publishing takeover when it acquired Details ), began egging me excitedly about the post-summer Zara sale, he said I have to go because of the major markdown on so many good classic pieces.  He said he was going that day during our shoot.  I said I’d go with him twice in a span of 8 minutes, and twice in that span I changed my mind after praying to calm my  excitement.  Because of the odd weather, terrible traffic, and other errands I decided to skip accompanying him on that exact day (others would tell me that was painfully unwise, to not accompany Michael Salientes on a shopping spree), but I said to him sincerely that I would try not to miss it.  When I have no peace I just won’t jump on it because I know there’s a reason why.  Long story short, the Zara sale left my mind for a whole week after Michael Salientes had told me that it was already the last weekend of the sale.  I figured I must have missed it.  Thinking the sale ship had sailed I silently beat myself up for not accompanying Michael.  However, on a very random day a week later, I found myself in Rockwell, lo and behold, the ZARA sale was still on, and many of the sale items had been marked down from the previous sale price AGAIN, bringing the prices even lower.  All photos in this fashion feature are shot by me using a Canon 600D with the new 50mm 1.8 STM lens and made possible with a tiny, hand-held Canon RC6 remote control which triggers 10 seconds of beeping before actually firing.  Click through to the full post to see the complete fashion feature on the clothes I chose from the ZARA sale.… To full post & COMMENTS...

The NARS FALL Collection 2015 |That Deep Retro Plume

Make way for the first official seasonal NARS collection feature ever to grace the blog (when I mean official I mean the brand had me to tea, and gave me the scoop) .  It’s an elegant collection and they spared me more than a few pieces to write about.  To be quick on it this is probably the NARS makeup collection that Jared Leto’s forthcoming Joker would go for.  While the collection will be available at Rustan’s the beauty source NARS have also just opened their first ever fully fitted out boutique at Central Square Mall, BGC Taguig.

All together I have: NARS VIP Red lipstick Php1450, Velvet Shadow Stick in Sukothai (duochrome peacock) and Flibuste (black) Php1550, Dual Intensity eyeshadow in Pasiphae Php1550, and lipgloss in Chelsea Girls Php1450) In the complete collection there are 7 Velvet Shadow stick shades in total, two lipglosses, a blush (Tribulante), two single eyeshadow shades, and the red lipstick.

“The look begins with natural sculpting of the face. Eyes dramatize in smoky shimmering brown and golden ombré. Lips captivate in tones of iconic red.  Making its official launch is the Velvet Shadow Stick, a silky, velvety shadow in a range of sumptuous shades for layering under and over, blending and setting, creating looks that are modern, sophisticated and always tempting.”

I decided to wear the dual intensity eyeshadow Pasiphae over Sukothai velvet shadow stick for the eyes.  I am also wearing NARS Pro Prime eyelid primer underneath both.  Instead of the VIP Red lipstick I thought the Chelsea Girls lipgloss they sent me was a better match for dark eyes.

I decided to try shooting at night to capture the glamour of the collection which evokes the richly colored nightlife of the seventies era, and also to try and capture murky teal shadows in the dark.  I think however I might find the other shade of dual intensity eyeshadow, Telesto, much more wearable than Pasiphae.  I do not own Telesto. I like that these dual intensity eyeshadows, while still powder, were created to be used wet or dry.  Despite shimmer you don’t get a ton of heavy fallout, there is a bit of dust, but not at a level that’s a pain to deal with.  The velvet shadow sticks are awesome in pay-off, but kind of so-so when it comes to the finish after blending or some playtime.  Still, at least once used as a base they grab onto powder eyeshadow and make them stay and obey, great for all night partying.
