Cheyenne Randall’s “Shopped” Tattoo Art | Ten Reasons to Follow Him

I am showcasing ten visual reasons to obey these five words: Follow @indiangiver on Instagram now.  If you haven’t heard about Cheyenne Randall’s #shoppedtattoos concept here it is.  His concept of digitally applying tattoos on iconic celebrities from decades past or even more recent years is a deeply thought provoking one.  In my opinion none of it offends because it’s all so tastefully done.  What’s really interesting how he is able to present the great “What if…” in precisely executed fashion and his choice of photos to work with reveals the respect he has for the people in frame.  I also sense a bit of fun amidst the whole #shoppedtattoos thread he has begun on IG, the “inking” of everyday civilians or the odd family member/friend included.  Remember take it all in with an open mind, this is just an idea :).

The Zara City Bag | The Office City Bag’s Demure Sister

I’m hardly ever captivated by bags on a regular basis.  I have 6, more or less, active hand/shoulder bags, (the dormant ones I have either outgrown or they’ve faded & peeled relentlessly), 7 if you count my gym bag and I don’t believe that I need a whole fleet of them.  When I first laid eyes on Anna’s (Vivianna Does Makeup) Zara OFFICE City Bag in her video quite awhile back, last February, I was fixated within seconds but though I browsed through ebay I wasn’t going to be foolish and get it for double the price.  Besides, taxes once it got here would make it so not worth the online attempt.  So I sensibly put it out of my mind for months.  It said online it was sold out everywhere abroad.  So, when I saw this Zara City Bag at GB5 yesterday (there’s 1 left in stock btw) I made it mine.  One, because I’m a fan of bags with compartments, two, I needed a black working bag that convinces people I’m out of college, and three, I’m a fan of Anna, lol.  Seriously though, the City bags in general, as Anna said don’t have a particularly eye-catching look about them, in fact for some you might think “Big, black, & cumbersome…” but what made lots of people notice Anna’s choice of purchase were really the functional compartments and also how close it looked to the Michael Kors Selma Bag.  Some were also cluelessly mistaken upon complimenting Anna on her “Prada” bag which made her laugh herself to bits, that’s what people really thought when they saw hers.  Of her own bag, the Office City, Anna narrates that it happens to be an OC person’s dream tote because of the thoughtfully included compartments and pockets.  Well I’d mistakenly thought ever since I purchased this yesterday at Zara that I had the exact same one as she did…as it turns out I didn’t get the exact-exact same one, mine’s the City not the Office City.  I wasn’t let down at all when I realized that, it’s from the same bag family, it’s the same size as hers with the same compartments, and you can hardly tell the difference.  Our bags sensibly qualify for a good round of “spot the difference” at first glance.

Mine. Php3995.00, 3 mos. to pay

ZARACity_09

Anna’s. £50/Php3500.00

The price hike isn’t unreasonably steep if you consider import tax.  My Zara City Bag is so similar to Anna’s Office City one that I had already “rerunned” through that video review of hers last night (I’ve embedded the vid at the bottom) while holding mine (yes, pathetically starstruck lol) and I still didn’t notice the 3-4 differences between this and that ’til the next morning.  My City is not rigid and as structured as the Office City Bag so mine screams more “business lady” rather than “business woman” and it doesn’t have piped edging, although some of you might want that piping coz it makes the bag look a bit more formidable.

Mine, the Zara City up close.  Impressively synthesized “Saffiano” leather, unless you feel it, looks like Saffiano

A few more to note, Anna’s has extra embroidered strap detail on the joints of the bag handles but hers doesn’t have the buttoned strap that optionally adjoins the two handles, and I think hers has one or two more compartments but that’s about it.  The rest of the bag matches up, even the plum burgundy color of the inner lining is the same.  By the way the metal hardware has a gold finish, some of the color might have gotten lost in the photos when I brightened them up.  Read more to check out the photos of my own bag up close, see its inner compartments, and watch the video of Anna’s Review/What’s in My Bag post with the Zara Office City.

Matchie Matchie Without Fail | Beauty & Fashion Hand in Hand

Color Coordination – From Fashion Faux Pas to Being the Hottest Trend

Models make matching make-up, accessories and clothes look simple and easy. However, mere mortals like us may find it difficult to follow their footsteps, especially when we decide to wear something monochromatic. In this entry, you will find compiled tips to achieve a fab look without fail.  Rock that runway with your naturally perfect pucker.

1. The first thing you need to remember is to choose the right lipstick. Oprah shared some basics about how to choose the right lip color. She said that you have to consider three things: a) your natural lip color (don’t go too far from it), b) make sure that your lip shade is complemented by your skin color and lastly, c) remember that with lighter hair, lip colors tend to take on a darker shade.

2. Less is more. If you’re going after a monochrome look, don’t overdo it. Whether you’re trying to pull off a style similar to Anne Hathaway during the Golden Globe Awards or just a simple business look with a red Marks & Spencer dress, we’d like to remind you to keep the coordination to a minimum. This approach will make you look sexy without going overboard.

3. Clown make-up is perfect for an entertainer during a child’s birthday party. However, it is not good for sophisticated women. It doesn’t matter if you’re wearing an organic lip color from Human Nature or an expensive Mac shade; you need to tone down on your colors. Give the people around you a focal point and not the impression that you had a bad day mixing the paint at home, which incidentally also spilled on you.

4. Lastly, make sure that you have prepared your lips before applying the lipstick. Apply a thin layer of foundation on your lips. Trace the outline using a neutral colored lip-liner. Once you’re satisfied with the base, you can now choose the hue or shade of lipstick that would match your outfit.

Apply these tips and you’re bound to feel more like a model on the runway, cool, confident, and oozing with chic.

My ZARA Red Lip Shirt | My “Dupe” for that PRADA Dress!

Happy Indie Day, FilipiNas and No-s!  Most of my long time readers know I’m all over renowned MUA Lisa Eldridge’s channel like a rash and I know she inspires a lot of other women as well.  She is my ultimate inspiration in an earthly person when it comes to my makeup career.  There is also something I really like that she uses often… it isn’t a tube of lipstick but it’s still got “makeup” written all over it.

It’s Lisa’s  red lipped PRADA dress which she first saw whenworn by Michelle Williams on British Elle in 2010 (this was also worn by French actress Lea Seydoux) and then she went out and bought the same one.   I happened to be in ZARA last month, a place that I mentally mark with a DO NOT ENTER on most days of the month.  This day however I was really badly on the hunt for some clothes, comfortable clothes, and lo and behold…among the cheaper racks I spotted this cotton top.  I’m pretty chuffed to have it, it fits me like a glove :).

The lips aren’t printed exactly the same but the pattern flatters me and I like that it’s sort of a younger version of what she’s wearing. I also like that some of the lips are bleeding lipcolor…ooh!

ZARA_liptee_02

Ugh, I’m currently trying to remember the price, all I remember is I smiled because it was about Php599 or was it Php799?  I’m 100% sure it was way under Php1000 because I took it immediately and went to pay for it.  Walking out of ZARA with this one not too expensive item made me feel like I was walking out with ten!

My Most Pricy UK Buy | Back From Europe!

With the obvious fact that I am jetlagging out of the way I just wanted to rub this in…I’m back. I also wanted to share that I was in Urban Outfitters for the first time. I actually felt really “poor” inside surrounded by too many “my type” items. Since it was my maiden visit to UO I decided to make it memorable and with my 30th birthday for razor sharp reason I exactly got away with my most memorable, most pricy single non-beauty purchase. This gorgeously spring-y MADE brand for Urban Outfitters pullover.

It was £75 so yes it is expensive and I had a long think for it in-store while my cousin fit her stuff. That’s about Php4k++ with the current exhange rate of Php64 to a £, but as a result I didn’t buy anything else in the shop. It’s gorgeously artsy with sort of smeared not too light pastel colors all over, so at least it wasn’t like Care Bear crack lol. It stood out in a Unicorn-ish way on the rack and ad a more classy tie-dye-but-not-tie-dye feel to it. It is comfy and not too warm to wear here…it isn’t heavy at all.

I felt for once that I didn’t want to get something off the sale rack on a maiden visit to a good brand. My cousin Kiana tried hilariously spewing criticism at it to see how I’d defend it LOL after 2 attempts she said “OK you have to get it, I just did that to see how much you wanted it.” What a girl. She was right and so I made it mine. By the way be on the alert, in the next day or two I shall be putting up a UK Beauty giveaway with stuff that to my knowledge you can’t really get here locally, before that a review might go up first. :)
