I’ve always had a gap in my kit waiting for a flesh colored eyeliner great enough to use on the lower eye waterline. Last month I picked up two of Smashbox’s Always Sharp Waterproof (Automatic) Eyeliners from Beauty Bar, I got an eggplant purple called Violetta and this flesh colored one is called “Bare”. I’ve heard Ruth Crilly of A Model Recommends rave repeatedly about these and just recently spotted it again in Anna’s (Vivianna Does Makeup) Getting Ready video for the Brit Awards. It was also what I used last week on the lower rims of my eyes for my smoldering Valentine night out look.
Ditch your sharpener, but stay sharp! This waterproof kohl eyeliner glides on and self-sharpens every time you twist the cap off. Inspired by Smashbox pros who sharpen before every use on set, this first-of-its-kind pencil has a sharpener built right into the cap for a perfect tip-so you’ll always get a precise line. · Can be used on inner rim · Precision of a liquid liner in a fool-proof pencil · Waterproof and non-flaking
Each time you twist open and close the automatic liner the nib automatically protrudes a bit more and gets sharpened, what a brilliant, innovative convenience but there are a few things one must note so you don’t ruin it. I was confused for awhile as to where I was supposed to twist the pen if I wanted more of the nib to come out, I found out that doesn’t need to happen because it already does it for you each time you twist the cap on and off. America’s new fresh-faced sweetheart, in my mind, is none other than Jennifer Lawrence, most especially after she beautifully blundered going up that Academy Awards stage last time. That second Dior video people are just too excited to see isn’t out yet and if you’re wondering what that’s about it’s going to be a behind-the-scenes feature on “JLaw” choosing her Dior dress for the upcoming Oscars. Swathed with delightfully awkward moments and famous for her fresh honesty Jennifer makes being the antithesis of demure such a grand, real, and glorious thing to behold. Foot in mouth quirks and all, Dior have still deemed her more than beautiful enough to be their current fashion muse for a third campaign and as seen in the recent photos that have popped up she absolutely is. I’ve embedded the first installment video of her Dior dress interview series below. Keep on the alert for that second video coming out this week (be aware the first one was unlisted on YouTube, you might have to search on blogs and news sites)!
Last but not the least, I wanted to share a video that showcases the reason why I also admire Dior. I just love their approach to the application and finish of makeup. They make use of very gentle and creatively precise application techniques, makeup never looks piled on and just radiates from the face. Let’s all sit back and look at this moisturizer, the ingredients of which are as good as Glinda. Kate Somerville’s Goat Milk Cream was included in one of Caroline Hirons’ oh-so-rare Hall of Fame standalone posts in October 2011 in which she labeled this as “an absolute must-have”. It’s an unusual formulation in a good way because it targets combination sensitive skin (Hello, Me) and provides a certain level of defense and treatment against acne. My aunt brought this home for me from L.A. last week, she picked it up from Sephora.
In case you were wondering, no, I did not paint my nails to match the product (haha), my chipped nails were already painted when my Tita gave this to me, haha (incidentally the shade is Revlon “Charming”, yes it does match the product pot perfectly). To confirm the luxury on this, check out the nifty pump that ensures you won’t spoil the product in side! Fancy, eh? I’m almost certain the luxe pot is what partly made this hit $55 at the counter. One full pump by the way is enough to do your face and relevantly your upper neck as well. But what’s great is you actually have an option. If the pump annoys you and you really want to get to the very bottom of the whole pot to scrape out the cream towards the end you can just twist off both the lid and pump together at the pot’s silver neck like on any normal product pot lid to get cream out the normal way.
For years, Ancient Egyptians used goat milk to heal and nurture skin; their skincare wisdom bears following. This natural wonder continues the great tradition, lavishing skin with infusions of milk proteins, vitamins, and amino acids.
It’s a lovely aloe-based rich cream that’s fragrance-free and just has that natural light milky smell that isn’t annoying. The density, texture and consistency is comparable to NIVEA’s classic cream in a blue tin (told you it was rich). The KS Goat Milk Cream is actually thicker than I thought and so for the local climate I still prefer the texture of the Za Restoring Collagen Cream. I imagine abroad this Goat Milk Cream could pass as a day cream in a dry country but out here in the tropics, during the day, unless your skin is super dehydrated or you work in air-conditioned areas it’s just a bit too rich for me. I’m not too sure this would be okay for oily skin locally, acne prone skin yes, but highly oily skin maybe not. However I used this overnight and when I touched my face the next morning, I woke up to smoother, softer and even in some areas clearer skin because it cleared up some small patches of rashes and potential zits along my jaw and on the side of my face. The key is to not to apply too much.
The great thing to note about this moisturizer is that as far as I can tell it is silicone and nasties free, so any smoothness or softness you get is a genuine positive skin reaction. The Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream is a trustworthy luxury moisturizer that’s nice to look at and set on your bathroom counter and can be used as a day or night cream according to your preference. I may not like the thicker texture of the cream itself but I do love the genuine supple effect on my skin in the morning when I’ve worn it overnight (without any artificial smooth-ers) and the fact that it doesn’t break me out and does prevention is great. Improved skin is what mainly matters and this certainly delivers.
I’d like to thank my friend Rinka for showing me her own Revlon Brow Fantasy Pencil Gel Duo, otherwise I wouldn’t have known about this really. The saleslady said these arrived last week or something. Simple things that work two ways are great for pushing, push push…this is good. This is something women with sparse brows need all the time.
REVLON Brow Fantasy Php570+ (purchased personally at PCX) – This product actually comes in four (4) shades and to my surprise wow, all four for now are available locally. If I heard the saleslady right the shades are light blonde light brown, brunette, and deep brown. Brunette and Deep Brown have already sold out in some stores like the one I went to in Alabang Town Center.
It’s nice to see Revlon doing more drugstore products we actually really need on a daily basis. I love that they’re doing classic staple products that tick the right boxes. Read more to see before and after shots of application and get the full review.
In just a few weeks the once-a-day bathers will become twice-a-day bathers. Summer heat is creeping up on us with a few cool nights making their last visits. I was super excited late last year to have been invited by the Cream Factory team to check out the brand. The Cream Factory is a goat milk centric bath and body range, their biggest product group being their ever popularly fragrant Bath creams and each have an added natural ingredient to flag a specific skin benefit. The ones I have are the Goat’s Milk and Honey and the Goat’s Milk and Avocado, each type has its own distinct scent (the smells are unrelated to the botanic ingredient). Essentially, these are shower gels infused with the goodness of goat milk and botanical essences but I do think the word “cream” has a better ring to it, the goats would be pleased. Just how great are these? They’re pretty much the most luxurious mid-range liquid body soaps I have ever tried. Had these existed while I was in grade school I would have collected the bottles for my dolls and pretended the milk man delivered to their doorstep daily (an “upcycle” tip for you mommies).
NO Pthalates, formaldehyde, mineral oil, or toxic petrochemicals.
VARIANTS – Goat’s Milk & Almond: The Detoxifying Soap, Goat’s Milk & Jojoba: The Clarifying Soap, Goat’s Milk & Yogurt: The Soothing Soap, Goat’s Milk & Seaweed: The Revitalizing Soap, Goat’s Milk & Cinnamon: The Purifying Soap, Goat’s Milk & Avocado: The Radiating Soap, Goat’s Milk & Acai Berry: The Age-Defying Soap, Goat’s Milk & Witch Hazel: The Rejuvenating Soap, Goat’s Milk & Honey: The Germ Killing Soap
That certainly looks like “dessert for the skin” doesn’t it? What I love about these bath creams is they don’t aggressively lather up, they gently lather up in a silky way and my skin doesn’t feel stripped of moisture after. Plus the scent, oh my the well-rounded sophisticated scents, they have some that are a little bit more on the sweet slightly fruity or slightly floral side but I’ll have you know they also have clean non-gourmande soapy scents. The most unisex scent I smelt was their Goat’s Milk and Witch Hazel (seriously smells just like Safeguard White) and the next best neutral scent would be the Seaweed one. My favorite scent is Avocado, it’s a clean scent with a slightly sweet note in there, Jojoba is pretty nice, too. These bath creams just really make showering something to look forward to.
