  • The quality of the eyeshadows in L'Oreal's La Palette Nude set actually impress me more than those in Urban Decay's first Naked palette to be honest...which is the reason why I couldn't convince myself to buy one of those.

Bless My Bag Posts

Just wanted to quickly announce that my spring cleaning blog sale is up here at the second tab  on the upper left corner of the site (after About Julia)  and this sale consists of ten tops I haven’t been using in awhile but are still eye candy and in good condition…INCLUDING what I believe to be the main event of this sale: a TOPSHOP real knit wool sweater that I spotted and very likely being worn by Emilia Clarke in the Me Before You upcoming film trailer.  This particular piece I’m convinced is the main event of my blog sale.  If you’re one who travels abroad a lot this is for you, sadly we don’t have whether chilly enough locally for me to use it more often.

I’m like 99.9% sure it’s the same sweater, given that Me Before You is pretty much a British film with British actors and Topshop being a UK brand.  Obviously there is film grading in most movies, so I didn’t spot it right away, only when I applied a cooling filter (to match the grading in the film) to the warmer photo of the texture of my sweater (which killed all the orange dots) did I realize that it most likely is what it is.  If it isn’t that exact sweater  it’s twinning quite closely to be sure.  To buy this sweater or the other items I have for sale go here for the links to ebay or to the tab after About Julia.

You guys know how I love to sweetly bait you all with a little giveaway love after a long absence.  Pardon the silence, two relatives from the same side in sad separate ways just happened to pass away on the same day early this week.  I was quiet before that took place but it extended my absence even longer.  So just before we begin our beauty journey once again I thought this time I’d turn on the cuteness with these miniatures in a giveaway.  Five of my high end skincare favorites all in mini form for one of you to own, aren’t they adorbs?  This giveaway is open until May 26th 12am (start of that day) and is nationwide only.

VMV Hypoallergenics Armada Sport 70 Sunscreen, Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, Pixi Glow Tonic (exfoliating toner), Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil, and Aveda Botanical Kinetics Intense Hydrating Soft Creme

If I was going to use these products in order, for an evening session, I’d begin with the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Oil all over my face to use as a cleanser/remover at the same time (note it doesn’t emulsify) and clear the makeup muck and residue off my face with a small wet, or very damp, flannel or towel (with excess water wrung out), making sure to remove any oily residue.  Mascara comes off so easily this way with the NUXE oil and it doesn’t sting my eyes.  Then next I’d go in with Pixi’s Glow Tonic exfoliating toner, do a quick sweep, leave it on for then apply a serum suited for sensitive skin like Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night repair which I’ve been using more regularly than any other serum for almost 3 years now.  If I’m feeling like I need a bit more plumping I’ll finish off with the Aveda Intense Hydrating Soft Creme moisturizer in the evening or the VMV Armada sunscreen (Sport 70 or Face Cover) instead during the daytime since it’s a sunscreen that feels like a light moisturizer anyway.

In makeup some aren’t as aware that we’re not restricted to use one product for just one purpose.  BAFTA Award winning makeup artist, Morag Ross (Carol, Sense and Sensibility, Elizabeth the Golden Age, Lost in Translation) in a recent sublimely lengthy interview with Guardian Beauty Editor Sali Hughes on YouTube, divulged that on herself for natural enhancement she wields a MAC Lingering eyebrow pencil to define the outer part of her lips.  The Pixiwoo sisters, Sam and Nic, in the past have used MAC Stone lipliner which is a tawny ashy hue, a pop fave for overdrawing nude lips in subtle fashion.  The FS Kohl Eye Pencil below in Caramel (Available at SM) is actually also the brand’s brow pencil…it’s a unique midway texture that’s just soft enough to function as an eyeliner but not in any way too soft or smudgy to do brows.

Processed with VSCO with a4 preset

I have done this in the past, using brow products to define lips instinctively (not realizing that pros like Morag actually did it ) in an instance where I left lipliner behind and decided to go for a nude lip.  Today I’ve decided to show that the result it isn’t strange at all, as you might think…I even threw in a cream eyeshadow, my favorite Bobbi Brown matte one (Sand Dune), to use as a lipstick.  Read on to see the result.

Following the electoral count over the next few days a new President will be sworn into office.  At home, while both my family and our household staff patrol the tube for election updates I decided to retreat into reflection…not about the elections nor about politics, but about righteousness, which sadly has been plastered and marked as a highly-overrated commodity these days…naturally, because these are the end times.  Armageddon in case you didn’t know, is not a fairy tale, it is imminent.

I read something today that upheld my sentiments about the commitment I made to the Lord when I was nine years old.  I committed to live a life pleasing to Him and one thing He promised me that night was that I never needed to be afraid of the dark again.  It was a simple enough request because I didn’t know how to sleep alone in my room.  He didn’t promise that darkness would not come, it most certainly would, He just promised that He would be with me.  Wherever He is more than enough light shines for you to know where you’re at.  Read on to the end.

My late grandfather once said a couple of years ago that he wanted to give my maternal grandmother, 1000 roses…because she was the mother of his 9 children, and the love of his life.  The nostalgia that came over my mother when I showed her my recent beauty find was priceless.  Mom loves the scent of rose and I spotted this Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Moroccan Beauty Oil while at Healthy Options yesterday.  It is GMO-free, sulfate-free, vegan and cruelty-free plus contains some of my favorite ingredients like jojoba, rosehip, hyaluronic acid, cranberry, and rosa centifolia oil.

Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba), Rosa Canina (Rosehip), Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry), Camelina Sativa, Argania Spinsosa (Argan) and Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oils*, Fruit Stem Cells (Alpine Rose, Malus Domestica, Solar Vitis) and BioActive 8 Berry Complex*, Soothing Complex: [Hyaluronic Acid, Magnolia Officinalis Bark, Phoenix Dactylifera (Date) Leaf Cell and Boswellia Serrata (Boswellin) Extracts], Sorbitol, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Aloe Barbadensis Extract, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) and Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos)*^, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) and Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) Oils*, Rosa Centifolia (Rose) Oil

1000 Roses® Complex: Rosewater and rose essential oil evoke sensual and euphoric enhancing qualities with harmonizing constituents to soothe and soften delicate, dry, and sensitive skin.  Skin Soothing Complex (Hyaluronic Acid, Magnolia Bark, Boswellin and Date Leaf Extracts): Provides a protective moisture barrier with sensitivity pathway blockers to alleviate inflammation and inhibit skin reactivity.

The scent is a lovely true rose scent since it contains both Rose Geranium and Rose Centifolia oil.  I got this one for myself initially because my gift for Mom was different, but my brother has decided to treat her to this as well since it reminds her so much of my grandfather.  The initial texture and effect on my hand and eventually on my face was like the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate but for only Php750 (more than 3x less the price of the Kiehl’s one).  I immediately remembered my grandfather with warmth…and since my Pai facial oil was nearing its past suitable mark I picked this up.  If you couldn’t afford a huge bouquet of roses and your mom isn’t quite into flowers and more into beauty products you may want to consider this as a last minute gift for her.  Available at Healthy Options, the range has several other products like creams and toners as well as a starter set with 4-5 travel size products.  This lovely video by Globe by the way, moved me to tears yesterday, indeed we all tend to overlook the constant concern our mothers have for us, let’s cherish them always.
