I’ve been using this for over a year and as I said have never given it the spotlight ’till today. People often ask what i use to achieve a practically perfect and graphic kitty flick despite my hooded eye folds. This one by K-Palette is the one. I needn’t go on and on about it to show how easy it is to use…the results speak for themselves.
What I loved about the original formula is even though it wasn’t marked “waterproof” yet, this black liquid liner was already resistant to smudging even in humid conditions (as long as you didn’t rub violently).
The pointed brush tip pen which reminds me of the ones used for calligraphy helps in creating perfect smooth lines and points. This new formula is special because it’s more water resistant but NOW (ironically) using warm enough water it’s easier to wash off at the end of the day without all the bad rubbing. It also (after several seconds), won’t easily transfer to your upper lid later in the day if you’ve got hooded or oriental eyes.
I tried wearing this last week at the LTO while getting my driver’s license. I was there for at least 5-6 hours from morning till afternoon sweating…it didn’t fail me. I do honestly suggest using this directly on the lid without foundation or moist primer underneath because it won’t go on as well. It’s better directly on skin or over lids that have eyeshadow already. My only con is this pen runs out hmmm, I’d say kind of surprisingly quickly. If I thickly line my eyes daily or almost daily I’ll run out of it in about 18-20 days I’d say. However in the end…overall, no other liquid liner pen helps me make thick or thin perfect liner looks as K-Palette’s 1Day Tattoo Eyeliner pen…always a keeper. Umm…I recall purchasing my first one from Beauty Bar awhile back for about Php800++? This improved one was supplied by K-Palette Philippines for review.
I actually don’t really get why I haven’t done proper individual reviews for K-palette items because I use them to every liquid pen’s death, both for eyes and brows. It just occurred to me that I’ve repeatedly thrown the 1Day Tattoo brow and liquid eyeliners into a handful of favorites and what’s-in-my-travel-bag posts but there hasn’t been a day when I’ve given them the individual spotlight…I was too busy well…using them LOL. Well, today is still not the day (even though I’ve been sent the new formula) only because a K-Palette newborn is still grabbing my attention. Say hello to the 1Day Tattoo Automatic Pencil Eyeliners, now available for Php795 at Beauty Bar! Hats off to you guys these nibs say. I got so excited when these arrived that I opened them and swatched them immediately the evening I got them, but I did shoot the stuff for this post just this morning.
What’s lovely about these pencils are 1 they are automatic so no sharpening required, and the small nibs ensure no matter how far down you go you can always still draw nearly sharp flicks, 2 They go on smoothly dark, not drag-gy like some cheaper longwearing eyeliners, and 3 They set waterproof but give you a window of about 15 seconds to smudge them if you like before they set! They’re also way more easy to smudge in the first few seconds than the standard gel pencil liners most of which give yucky blend quality, not these, though.
What I like about working with supreme makeup pencil products like these is they’re more forgiving for the less skilled lining hand, maybe for some of you who hate working with liquid liner. This makes it especially easy when doing seemingly impossible flicks on hooded eyes like mine. Do any of you remember the local TV show Batibot? If you were born in the late 70s to mid-80s you probably do. Aside from watching Sesame Street I also watched Batibot whenever I caught it on TV. Yes, at the time I lived in Dasmariñas in a big house with my Lola and I was a teeny-weeny bit spoiled as an only kid, but shows like Batibot in addition to Betamax tapes of Sesame Street and Saturday Morning Cartoons from the U.S. kept me company and expanded my world with slice-of-life narratives. I wish more shows like this still existed today. One of those narratives was a video segment called “Bangkang Papel” which in Filipino means “paper boat”. A lot of children in the Philippines don’t have expensive toys to play with so they often make their own and folded paper boats were (before mobile phone games) just as popular here as paper planes are in the US. Today’s beauty post is a bit different in light of what’s happened because of the rain. The flooding here in the Philippines has caused a lot of people to lose their homes and relatives. Some have been relocated temporarily to cramped relief centers. I’ve decided to keep it simple today and just share a few current favorites brought to you in a “bangkang papel”. Two of these I’ve fully reviewed, the rest I’ve only just mentioned.
1. K-Palette 1-Day Tattoo Eyeliner – I’ll keep all these mentions short and simple because I don’t have it in me 100% to fully expound on cosmetics today because of the storm calamity. This is a great, easy-to-use liquid eyeliner that’ll help you get a nice sharp cat’s eye. K-Palette products are available in Beauty Bar. (upcoming full review)
2. K-Palette Kuma Concealer – – This concealer performs similarly to the peach color correctors of MAC and Bobbi Brown, it instantly lifts and corrects dark circles, comes in 3 shades with skin benefits, and is a smooth but concentrated consistency like Michelle Phan’s favorite Amazing Concealer. (upcoming full review.)
4. Clinique Shimmer Stripes Powder blush in 01 Peony (free travel sample size, a gift) –This was simply given to me by my Ninang, it’s a free sample size of Clinique Shimmer Stripes Powder blush. These aren’t glittery or even “shimmery” in a pixie dust way don’t worry, they’re a pearl-to-satin finish and the Peony shade gives cheeks that mild hint of rosy.
Right now many districts and provinces in Luzon are in a state of calamity due to the heavy rains these last few days. I may or may not be as active on the blog this week and some personal posts might go up. Let’s offer up prayers of thanksgiving for ourselves who are healthy, clean, and dry and prayers of compassion and mercy for people who have lost their loved ones, homes, hope, and joy. God, please be merciful and show us what more we can do to help people in need not just at this time but from now on everyday that we have life in us. Amen. To give us hope that majority of the Philippines can find joy again in simple things here is that video of Bangkang Papel from Batibot that has been on my mind for the past few days amidst all the chaotic reports from the news. Somewhere, somehow, families and children will find peace and joy again which is what this video brings home very well. Once upon a time, rain wasn’t always such a burden. This is a reminder of a time when we once actually even looked forward to the rain which could bring joy when it wouldn’t overwhelm us.
Nobody really cared about the foul weather. We all just really wanted to be at this event in Greenbelt 5 to meet K-Palette’s Lead Makeup Artist for product development, Noriko Imura. She has been active in the beauty industry for over 20 years (An Asian Lisa Eldridge? Possibly) and specializes in eyes and properly enhancing brows. K-Palette, the brand of my absolute favorite liquid eyeliner “1-Day Tattoo” has been available at Beauty Bar for quite awhile now. These are Japanese cosmetic products that suit basic makeup needs for brows and eyes and they perform, I’m telling you now, in an almost unbelievably perfect way. The K-Palette 1-Day Tattoo line just works and the products give you a fine finish. The range consists of their famous liquid eyeliner and the ABSOLUTELY foolproof brow pens which remind me of the expensive Suqqu brow pens Lisa Eldridge loves using.
I know, I apologize, I never reviewed the black waterproof 1-Day Tatoo Real Lasting Eyeliner I first purchased way back, tried, and used up. What makes it work is a wonderful waterproof formula that comes with a fineliner brush tip suitable maybe even for fine calligraphy! I like it even better than the MUFE Aqua liner pen. It was so great that I kept using it, and before I knew it before I could blog about it, it was used up and gone, LOL! 1-Day Tattoo is one of the top 3 liquid eyeliners in Japan and has sold 10 million pieces to this day since its release only a few years back.
They’re also currently promoting the Kuma concealer range which are liquid concealers particularly made for the under-eye area with added skincare benefits, available in 3 shades suited to Asian skin. The texture actually reminds me of Michelle Phan’s favorite Amazing Concealer. These products are all currently available at Beauty Bar outlets. Watch the video event I edited last night which I shot in full HDwith my new camera, yay. Sorry if it was a bit blurred often just at the start, I was still learning how to adjust the video settings, but overall I think it came out fab! This video contains highlights of the 3-hour meet and greet/slash product demonstration with the super talented Noriko Imura. The president of K-Palette also flew in from Japan along with the brand’s representatives from Singapore as well! It was one of the most “sulit” jampacked makeup demonstrations I’d ever been to and one of the major events I’ve most enjoyed and been inspired by so far.
Thank you so much K-Palette and Beauty Bar, will blog about the product samples I came away with soon after this :)! For more information follow K-Palette Philippines’ Facebook page.… To full post & COMMENTS...
Aha!! YouTube finally made way for my video to come rolling right in (after almost a dozen tries) and I’d like to present my very first video tutorial embedded at the bottom of this post in which I demonstrate how I apply gel eyeliner, no tomatoes please. This also serves as a review slash product comparison for Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner (whew) and Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner. A few lovely blogger friends have been requesting that I post a video on how I do my eyeliner so finally here it is with a bit of initial reluctance. I am admittedly a bit of a goofball when it comes to being in front of the camera, so you’ll have to forgive me and my point and shoot cam kind of has a subtle lens distortion that makes my face bulge in the center, so I look obviously different in person . Next time I’ll be more composed and organized plus will have better lit and clear surroundings.. This photo by the way was taken late last year but I am using the same method and product as in the video so it’s perfect as one of the introductory images for what you are about to watch, however please pardon the slightly rough edge in the photo I used a different brush to apply, I nearly got the same result but I prefer the brush I used in my video which is the Make Up For Ever 2S Brush.
Yea, yea I know, enough stalling (YouTube’s done quite enough of that) and onto the video. Please…please…be kind *covers face*, I’m usually working on videos and not in them so I’m heaps of bashful right now, okay.
