My Most Pricy UK Buy | Back From Europe!

With the obvious fact that I am jetlagging out of the way I just wanted to rub this in…I’m back. I also wanted to share that I was in Urban Outfitters for the first time. I actually felt really “poor” inside surrounded by too many “my type” items. Since it was my maiden visit to UO I decided to make it memorable and with my 30th birthday for razor sharp reason I exactly got away with my most memorable, most pricy single non-beauty purchase. This gorgeously spring-y MADE brand for Urban Outfitters pullover.

It was £75 so yes it is expensive and I had a long think for it in-store while my cousin fit her stuff. That’s about Php4k++ with the current exhange rate of Php64 to a £, but as a result I didn’t buy anything else in the shop. It’s gorgeously artsy with sort of smeared not too light pastel colors all over, so at least it wasn’t like Care Bear crack lol. It stood out in a Unicorn-ish way on the rack and ad a more classy tie-dye-but-not-tie-dye feel to it. It is comfy and not too warm to wear here…it isn’t heavy at all.

I felt for once that I didn’t want to get something off the sale rack on a maiden visit to a good brand. My cousin Kiana tried hilariously spewing criticism at it to see how I’d defend it LOL after 2 attempts she said “OK you have to get it, I just did that to see how much you wanted it.” What a girl. She was right and so I made it mine. By the way be on the alert, in the next day or two I shall be putting up a UK Beauty giveaway with stuff that to my knowledge you can’t really get here locally, before that a review might go up first. :)

Random Rave – Topshop Cute-As-A-Button Pink Tape Measure

I’m actually not sure if I should be sharing slash promoting this…so let’s say for now I’m just raving, but I found this Topshop tape measure and got it off Ebay and it was so, so cute and could not resist placing an order for it…then I found out, oops, it happened to be a freebie with online global purchases.

It cost me about £8.50 in total with shipping from Ebay, so that’s about Php500.  It’s actually the current free gift with ANY ORDER from the Topshop.com global website so I’m not quite exactly sure if they’re giving these out with purchases also at Topshop boutiques locally…I’d say most probably not, but it’s better to be sure so you can check your local boutique first.  Anyway some enterprising, international Topshop shoppers obviously thought they didn’t need the ones they got with their purchases so that’s how some ended up on Ebay and they lured in happy suckers like me…I’m not regretting the purchase because I really don’t plan to get Topshop clothes online and so this was practically the only way I could own one for myself.  So just be aware that if you plan to do some online Topshop shopping… there is no need to pay just to get one of these off the net elsewhere, you’ll certainly get one with your online purchase.  I’ve no time right now to put up my wishlists but the photos are certainly piling up and both the Beauty and Non-Beauty Wishlist editions will be up soon.  I’ve got to do groceries and Christmas shopping for now hence the quick random post.  Cheerio dahlingz…

Emerald Green for 2013! – So Says Pantone

In all honesty green is one of my least favorite shades when it comes to makeup and clothes.  Because I have a very yellow undertone with oriental skin it’s not exactly a shade that complements me.  However if I absolutely had to choose a shade of green I would definitely lean towards emerald, the more cooler in the spectrum which sits somewhat in between kelly forest green and teal, do not confuse forest green or British racing green with emerald, totally different shades altogether.  Emerald has just been announced the Pantone color of the year for 2013 and while I might not wear it often I am glad it is the sort of green I prefer.  I only own one piece of emerald clothing, and it’s a tailored linen tube top Mom got me from Indonesia.  On my face I used L’oreal Lucent Magique foundation, Missha Perfect Concealer, Anastasia Express Brow kit for brows, and an Estee Lauder Pure Color lipstick in Mystic Mauve (from a Travel Exclusive set).

I’m wearing MBMJ stud earrings and over my emerald top I’m wearing my new M|phosis necklace (Php590)  in a gunmetal shade which I have been finding quite easy to wear even over plain white T-shirt tops.  I don’t usually force the issue and insist that I rock the color of the year with my wardrobe…never the case really but it’s fun to be able to see how the shade can work for you and just how many emerald green things the fashion industry will cough up for next year.  I don’t think I’d ever try emerald as makeup on myself, at most perhaps a gel liner or liquid liner just for fun but on a day to day basis I don’t think so.  Do you think you’ll be rocking 2013’s color of the year in any way?… To full post & COMMENTS...

My Anteprima Illustrated Tote Bag – My Most Major HK Purchase

I didn’t expect to find a uniquely classy bag I could afford at this point, but trekking to Citygate in Tung Chung, the 30-min last stop on the orange train line from Hong Kong central, made it possible.  I’d ventured out to visit a friend based near the fishing community of Tai O (a charming, rustic place) and on my way back to the city I scored this absolutely charming, illustrated Anteprima tote at Citygate, for 30% off at the final price of $HK 976/approx. Php5200.

“The brand was conceived by Izumi Ogino in year 1993, in hope of creating a brand for a modern woman with an appreciation for timeless luxury and contemporary style. A woman who can exist anywhere in the world, her flair transcends borders. The ANTEPRIMA woman, as created by IZUMI OGINO.  She has captivated the fashion world since the label’s debut – as its name means in Italian – at Milano Moda Donna in 1998.”ElementsHK.COM

I liked the brand Anteprima the first time I laid eyes on the boutique in Singapore.  It’s a brand that absolutely gets me.  Anteprima basically means “a preview” or “debut” in Italian but it was created by the effortlessly beautiful Japanese designer, Izumi Ogino in the mid 90s.  She absolutely loves Italy and works mostly with materials from that region and always presents her collections in Milan. Izumi’s dainty but modern creations remind me of a more delicate Asian take off from luxury brands that know women inside out.  These brands get that it’s not about being full-blown regal 24/7, it’s also about being elegantly chill in those moments when you need to be.  Brands like those aren’t afraid to get playful in terms of design and know how to do it properly, NOT AT the expense of taste, like for example Chanel or Kate Spade.

Anteprima is mainly known for its famously pretty and dainty “wire bags” as well as shoes and dresses, but those were off the budget for me.  Read more to get the full review, a closer look at the bag’s features, and my musings on this bag that I’m quite happy to own.… To full post & COMMENTS...

The Lady Dior Web Documentaries with Marion Cotillard – Episode 1 “Fantasia”

This caught my eye online and I saw that it was posted by Dior only a week ago.  It’s so refreshing to hear the lovely Marion Cotillard speak in her native language.

Enter the House of Dior in this first “webisode” slash installment of the Lady Dior Web Documentaries.  In this first video out, you get a barely 2-minute glimpse of the glory of cuts and stitches as seasoned seamstresses fashion some of the brand’s most beautifully tailored creations for their beautiful brand ambassador.

Star Magic Ball Glamour – Engaged Couple Paolo Valenciano & Samantha Godinez

Hundreds of celebrities and influential individuals made their way into Shangrila Makati last night for the sensational event that is the Star Magic Ball, an ABS-CBN celebration of the network’s hardworking, shining stars.  Here’s one glimpse of a couple I knew personally at that posh event and I beam with pride because Sam asked me to do her makeup after we finished work on an album cover shoot together yesterday.

Sam’s Dress by Eric Delos Santos, Sam’s Hair done by Bernard

Products I Used for Sam’s Star Magic Ball Look

SAM’S BASE: MUD Make Up Designory Cream Foundation in YG 3, Chanel Soleil De Tan Bronzing Base (contour), MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC 35, Laura Mercier Transparent Loose Setting Powder, MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural Powder in MEDIUM (for sheen), Benefit Watts Up Highliter just along Cheekbones, Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface.

SAM’S EYES and BROWS: Topshop Potted Eyeshadow Mousse in “Glint”, Stila Smudgestick in Damsel, False Lashes, Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Mascara (after curling falsies and lashes together), K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Brow Pen.  Sam does her own brows perfectly and she especially likes them thick.

SAM’S LIPS: Jordana Lipstick in Beige Glow (I lent her the lipstick for the evening)

Unlike a lot of the makeup seen at the Star Magic Ball Sam wanted to keep it noticeable but fresh, simple, and neutral to round off her already flashy silver-sequined, dress and please her fiancee’s reserved taste.  Paolo Valenciano’s dapper suit was provided for the event by 5cm.

INSTAGRAMS BY SAM (at the end of the night)

My cousin, Pao, proposed to his girlfriend Samantha Tabuena-Godinez  last June 15, 2012 while his father, Gary V., was touring in California.  Trivia token, in case you didn’t know, Sam’s father, Jaime Godinez owns Sound Check, which is the country’s top sound engineering and services company and they are entrusted with Gary Valenciano’s concerts and almost every major foreign music production that makes its way to the Philippines.… To full post & COMMENTS...

Fully Booked Filler – Rainy Day Reads & a Gift

The weather has just been pretty gloomy lately, hasn’t it?  I’ll admit I’ve been a bit lazy on my beauty posts in the last few days and even skipped 1 or 2 days of pilates (that otherwise would have been daily) not just because of the moody weather but also because I’ve been spending a bit more quiet time with my family.  I’ll catch up soon.  It’s just that all those true but horrid stories on the news about people dying, drowning, or being crushed just made me want to silently be with my own pack.  My mom, who has been working ever since before I was born, has also chosen to retire…from advertising, but not from work in its entirety.  She’s still got something new up her sleeve in another field.  At the moment she’s in transition and she’s been home a lot which is quite comforting to say the least.  To pounce on today’s topic: I refrain from buying magazines.  I do miss physically pouring over them, though.  They’re easier on the eyes than blogs and sites online when I just don’t want to be glued to my laptop and they’re great references to show clients when they’re unsure of what they want makeup-wise.  In addition to food, Mom likes treating me to magazines every now and then, today was one of those days.  I have also been reading books again in bed which is something I super duper miss, will mention which books in another post after I get a few beauty and giveaway posts up.

NYLON Singapore Aug 2012/British VOGUE Sept 2012/ELLE UK Sept 2012 travel size/Star Wars Moleskine Notebook

I do usually prefer a British Vogue issue over the U.S. Issue.  The features of the latter are often so smothered by an avalanche of advertisements.  British Vogue is just a delight to read, there’s just something in the way they sequence the ads and features together in a harmonious way.  It’s not often as thick as their U.S. sister but in their case less is more.  Don’t get me wrong, Vogue U.S. is still splendid, it’s just that for me there’s a quality I look for in that magazine that is missing, I can’t quite put my finger on it.  I’m not an EDITORIAL EXPERT, but for my personal taste the content of British Vogue more often than not is rich, exceptionally well-written and of course it only boosts my love and fascination of all things British even more (maybe that’s it…really).  The only items I bought with my own money was the NYLON Singapore AUG issue which I didn’t intend to buy (I grabbed it & thought ’twas a SEPT issue. Obviously Lost in TRANSACTION) and the limited edition Star Wars Moleskin notebook which I’m planning to gift to someone dear to me on that person’s birthday.  Price?  Php999=Php1k, yipe, but that person is worth it and I’m going to pen, pimp, and personalize its intro pages.

Relatives, if you are reading this and know who I am referring to, do not share because I know he doesn’t read my blog.  There were two kinds of Star Wars Moleskine LTD Edition notebooks.  I saw the Silver Light Speed design but I preferred this bronze embossed one with the nostalgic scrolling text supers.  This design felt more epic and the ascending synopsis always lends itself to the act of chronicling one’s own EPISODE in life.… To full post & COMMENTS...

WildEvents Bargain Hunt Bazaar – July 27-29, Megatent, Libis

Hi, everyone!  I’ve secured a booth at the Bargain Hunt Bazaar which will be an event at Megatent, Libis (near Dampa).  I’m expecting a huge, mid-range sale mix of retail, pre-loved, and novelty items.  Mine won’t primarily be a makeup booth, mostly pre-loved apparel, but I will certainly have a little tray of trinkets and a few random unused cosmetic things for sale.  My booth will consist primarily of pre-loved and mint condition apparel (clothes, bags, shoes, and accessories) compiled together by my family and mom’s clan.

Hehe, but don’t expect too much of a fancy setup on my part, we had little time as a family to plan for this, but I can assure you the quality and prices of items we’ll be putting on for sale will have you rummaging through our stuff with glee.  Come on everybody, the more the merrier!  Plus, get some super advanced Christmas shopping done and spare yourself the holiday rush!  Like WildEvent’s Bargain Hunt Bazaar Facebook page within the next 2 days to get in for Free! Regular admission is Php80.00.  I’ll tweet my both location as soon as I’m advised, follow me on twitter @blessmybag.To full post & COMMENTS...
