MY CURRENT BROW GAME DUO

I’ve been enjoying two products for my brows lately that I have mentioned in separate posts but thought that I’d briefly share them with you.  While I love brow pens for their staying power I still love combining pencil and brow mascara for a softer and more natural textured look.  Tax week is upon us!  A little more patience ladies, sorry bout the large gaps in blogging but just really need to focus this week on tax related duties and errands.  It’s almost over.

I’ve raised my brows positively at almost everything I’ve had to do this week.  Read on to see what I’ve been using to keep them defined and pretty!

GOOD DESERT ROSE FAVES ON GOOD FRIDAY

There are a couple of new makeup things I’ve been testing out and liking quite a bit.  At the moment, I’m still developing a look to maybe present next for a video tutorial, today’s look is on its way there but I might amplify it a bit next time for video.  This post will focus on one of these bits in particular, an item I already blogged about in 2011.

NEWFaves_01

WHAT I HAVE ON, CLOCKWISE: NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator  (Gleam), Laura Mercier Infusion de Rose Lip Balm, Fanny Serrano (original, no longer available) lash curler, NYX BB Cream, Catrice Sun Matte Bronzing Powder, L’Oreal False Lash Butterfly Waterproof Mascara, FS Features & Shades eyeshadow in “Frosted Chic”, Maybelline Fashion Brow mascara in Deep Brown, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in “Abu Dhabi” (reported dupe for Kylie Dolce) Php390,   Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in “Sand Dune”, FS Features & Shades Kohl Eye Pencil in “Caramel”(Shade like MAC Brunette brow pencil, used for eyes and brows), FS Features & Shades Powder Foundation in “Mocha” (new packaging), Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush only to set FS powder under eyes (instructional video for brush and powder foundation here, pressing motion)

Without my even having to mention, you’ll spot that there’s a definite desert rose shade theme running through this selection.  Please note that when I say Desert Rose theme I don’t mean the actual desert rose flower (which is actually a bright fuschia) but more of like my more naked, blushed, fictional take on a desert rose.  I also particularly mention the preferred matte liquid lipstick formula I’ve loved for 5 years.  Read on to see the look I put on today, it’s still wearable and natural, but I’ve switched up products a bit.… To full post & COMMENTS...

FS COSMETICS BLUSH RELAUNCH “TWINKLE TAN”

I attended the NEW FS Cosmetics launch party a couple of days ago and was quite excited for this launch because this is a local industrial makeup brand I’ve always had in my kit.  They have products that flat out just do the job.  The powder formulas are exceptional, one time a certain network executive I do makeup for asked me if I was using Chanel while I was applying the FS powder foundation in Mocha on her due to the scent (the powder is lightly scented but not overwhelming).  I don’t have my full press package yet (it’s on its way), but I’m fine with the delay because I didn’t want to choose shades and colors from a jpeg file of swatches online.  I did take pictures at the event, and one of the first things that won me was this FS Cosmetics blush in Twinkle Tan , another beige pink which compares well to NARS madly but is just slightly more rosy and a touch more obvious in photos and super beautiful in person.

Below is a glimpse of other new products they also have, like the loose powders with built in brushes that detach and re-attach to the lid, textures are comparable to Laura Mercier translucent setting powder.

To be rid of the elephant in the room (since it is there no matter what I type anyway) the FS Cosmetics range was formerly associated with Fanny Serrano for several years but their collaboration contract with him ended in 2011, as most collaboration contracts do.  So FS Cosmetics, now known as Features and Shades, has relaunched with the same makeup formulas we like, more sturdy and new-looking packaging, plus existing bestseller shades and some new shades and products also.I managed to personally experience the new line at the event  and make a list of what REALLY impressed me there and one of them was the blush I mentioned (that is until another blush caught my eye, haha).  Read on to see me wearing it.… To full post & COMMENTS...

A CLEANSING BALM CALLED A MAKEUP REMOVER

It happens sometimes in the industry, a certain product is named something, but what it’s called is not entirely accurate or complete.  I realized this when I was confused on how to use Thai drugstore brand IN2IT’s Makeup Remover Cream.  I thought it was supposed to work like cold cream at removing makeup, but leaving it on my face after it moved the makeup around didn’t feel right.  Eventually, I spotted the magic word that jumped out at me in the instructions on the back of the tube: RINSE.  This is got me extremely excited.

IN2IT MAKEUP REMOVER CREAM PHP399.00, SM Beauty.  Key ingredients: extracts of lemon, cucumber, grape, apple, olive oil, witch hazel, chamomile, aloe Vera and Vitamin E. MADE IN THAILAND

I’ve been using this for the past 5 days in place of my CLINIQUE cleansing balm (it’s easier to bring along because it’s in a tube).  I rinsed and discovered this IN2IT makeup remover cream is actually a budget cleansing balm.  Read on for the full review.… To full post & COMMENTS...

PRETTY AND PROPER PROM MAKEUP BY ME

This one is a mega post, long but fun!  In a world where everything beautiful is said to be subjective to taste I still have my personal standards, especially when it comes to makeup for little women.  Call me old-fashioned but when it comes to prom makeup I still strongly think that it ought to celebrate youth and not mask it entirely.  I feel like breaking out into a rash whenever I hear about young people pulling all sorts of strings to try to look older at prom.  I spent the other night helping prep my cousin Stella who was invited to an all boys’ school prom.  I did her makeup upon request.

Processed with VSCO with k3 preset

There’s a fine line difference between looking older and looking of age and I always sincerely hope that girls decide on the latter just as Stella did.  Read on for a before and after shot, products used, details on how I did it and a sneak peek at Stella’s personal makeup kit at the end.… To full post & COMMENTS...

MY BUDGET SUMMER MAKEUP EDIT 2016

I get the random comment about my makeup recommendations being safe for normal and clear skin types.  A good number of you out there, I’ve observed, prefer more coverage.  So, for today’s budget  summer makeup look I am sporting more coverage and a heavier less dewy finish, more than what I’d personally wear.  For those among you who like things more packed in and shine-free I give you this edit.

MY TOP 5 WATERPROOF MASCARAS 2016

I just realized we’ve got a theme going, revolving around the number 5 to be exact, and you’ll be seeing that number for a couple of weeks I should think.  Yup, I’m doing an updated journey through my top 5 favorites in different categories (I just noticed so many of you are looking at my 2013 top 5 picks and we need to fix that).  The weather is slowly warming up and I’ve got myself thinking about my desert island picks and all that jazz.  All I know, for sure, that if I was going to pick just one makeup item to bring on a deserted island it certainly would be waterproof mascara and for tools a lash curler.

WPmascara_03

I am about to show you what I think are my locally available top 5 waterproof mascaras.  I put my foot down on the selection to make sure they are all locally available, at least here in Manila.  Please note they are not necessarily the cheapest mascaras they’re the best mascaras available here in my opinion (department store brands included). Read on to see what brands they are.… To full post & COMMENTS...

HAPPY SKIN x PLAINS & PRINTS | PRINTS MADE PRETTY

Another year with Happy Skin cosmetics can only get better.  They’ve made way into love month with a fun makeup and style collaboration alongside the brand’s clothing retail partner Plains & Prints.  Imagine a clothing line inspired by a makeup collection, different indeed!  The clothes will be exclusively available via Zalora.com.ph from February 10-17.  This post features the cosmetics, mainly the lippies.  Sorry to say you now must know I felt slightly overcome with nausea and palpitations in the fitting room while fitting clothes at the event.  I even had to ask for a glass of water to be brought to me inside the fitting room, something about too much caffeine.  Just know that with me excess caffeine + crowds + decisions are not a good combination, haha.  There vanished any resolve to shoot OOTDs after.

Happy Skin Prints Made Pretty

HappySkin_PrintsMadePretty_09

The makeup collection features our favorite Happy Skin Shut up & Kiss me lippies in two new shades and extremely new glam makeup items never before done by Happy Skin.  I personally took all my photos at the event, flatlay models on the floor included, except for the shot of me above by Ira, a Happy Skin intern who used my camera.    Read on to see me try these out and see the rest of the post.… To full post & COMMENTS...

The MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Sculpt Range

“IMMA FINISH BY MIDNIGHT” says the author of this post on Snapchat.  Great, now I’m stressed, I gave myself 25 minutes left to tell you bits and bobs about MAKE UP FOR EVER’s new Pro Sculpt range.  I certainly won’t make it before midnight (after midnight disclaimer right there).  You’ll also have to pardon my severely chipped nails.

MUFE_prosculpt_01

In a nutshell, the brow item is everything one needs for a precise natural brow and then some (with a waxier texture, a spoolie brush, and a highlight sponge bulb in the middle), the contour and color kit just works, and they were thoughtful to do both brow and face kits in several colorway intensities (4-5 shades for brow and contour items) according to depth of skin hue.  The lipstick item I specifically left out for separate review because the one they gave me was red (items above were at the event).  I also include gossmakeupartist’s video tutorial for the use of the palette at the end of the post.  Read on to see me try on the palette and brow pencil.… To full post & COMMENTS...
