Hi, at long last I got a video up! The camera work on my Morning Skincare Routine video is a bit shaky sorry about that but Mom really did her best, she helped me that morning get it done, God bless her. Drink Bonamine nalang before watching, lol.
1. Safeguard Derma Sense Cleanser for Sensitive Skin (fragrance-free)
2. NIVEA Soft Moisturizer (bought in Japan)
3. This Works In Transit Camera Close-Up Moisturizer
4. VMV Hypoallergenics Armada Face Cover Sunscreen SPF45
5. NYX BB Beauty Balm in shade “Natural” (oil-free)
Of course you understand that on some days I don’t get to use all of the ones mentioned here. Sometimes, I leave out one or two of these in the rush, but right now these are all the products I’ve been reaching for before I’m out the door in the morning. Let’s save our skin from the early onslaught of sun damage this summer (and all year round), shall we? Here are five locally available non-sticky sunscreens to choose from depending on your skin type. Prices vary greatly but I chose each one based on suited skin type…five for five.
Cetaphil DAYLONG Light Gel SPF50, NIVEA Sun Protect & Moisture, VMV Hypoallergenics Armada Sport 70, Shiseido Wet Force S SPF50, Belo Sun Expert SPF40 Face
Out of these five sunscreens I have used three. The two other sunscreens I have applied but not tested under long sun exposure but people I know and am about to mention have used them already. Read on to get a closer look at which skin type each sunscreen suits and why I like them.… To full post & COMMENTS...
I’ve never been the most toned beach bum out there but I’ve loved summers in the Philippines ever since my tender years. My parents took me to the beach every year until I was a teenager at least 2-3 times a year.
Swimsuit by Roxy Ph, shades by Sunnies (gifts from both brands).
I thought I’d just let loose and tell you a couple of real things about myself and summer then you can tell me your 5 summery facts in the comments. Scoot over, Olaf.… To full post & COMMENTS...
We had the Thanksgiving giveaway last year and I had the pleasure of personally delivering the loot to the winner Rafflecopter chose for the first time. She was really happy and I was pleasantly surprised because she was pregnant! I know I’ve said this more than once but this Hot Valentine Giveaway is by far one of my most exciting giveaways yet. A couple of the prizes are items that are so good they’ll make you wonder why I’m giving them away. Just to be clear, the contents of these pouches are not just Sleek and Happy Skin products. I always first take my share of the products to review or use to honor the brands. Both pouches are jam-packed with so many different brands for this giveaway. I mainly chose these pouches because they’re so well made. Both these pouches of skincare and makeup will go to one winner. To join the giveaway you can enlist in the Rafflecopter widget at the end, but first…see an overview of the goodies!
BRANDS INCLUDED: Benefit Cosmetics, Sleek Cosmetics, Maybelline, Nuxe, Shiseido, Mario Badescu, K-Palette, Leaders Skincare, LUSH, Belo, Pond’s L’Occitane, L’Oreal, Tony Moly, Happy Skin Cosmetics, Santee, Pixi by Petra, L’Oreal, Revlon.

One of the 2016 NIVEA Summer Outing’s highlights which certainly delivered on “Aww” points when it was presented to us was the reveal of the NIVEA Sun Doll, a toy developed to teach children the value of applying sun protection. Imagine our juvenile squeals of delight when we were told after being shown this official Nivea Sun Doll video that we were each about to be given our very own Nivea doll. Yes, girl and boy dolls are available.
Nivea Philippines has not yet confirmed their entry into local retail, but they’d most certainly be very, very welcome here, especially before summer. Read on to see how UV affects the doll to raise kids’ awareness and watch the official video.… To full post & COMMENTS...
I’ve blogged about Filipino brand Happy Skin’s Zz cream about over a year and a half ago in 2014, it was the base I kept reaching for then for several weeks. Then of course an influx of more press samples to try flowed in, and I forgot just how great this light to medium coverage base product was. What I like is that for a MAC NC30 shade girl like me, this tone is spot on. That’s the only caveat, is the Happy Skin Zz Cream comes in just one arguably medium to fair universal shade. Happy to report that in my case it’s a match.
“This non-silicone foundation does not clog pores and is infused with Grapefruit Extract. Rich in antioxidants, grapefruit is touted as the new skin care secret. It effectively prevents skin acne and sebum oxidation, the trigger that starts pimples. It keeps troubled skin soft & supple, too. Wonder food Yoghurt Extract treats and minimizes the growth of acne bumps & plugs, and also serves as a skin brightener helping lighten scars & blemishes. Licorice Stem & Root Extracts act as anti-irritants that help reduce redness & irritation, thanks to their anti-inflammatory and skin soothing properties. Salicylic Acid helps exfoliate pores and eliminate the clogging residue that causes breakouts. This contains SPF 20 PA++ and is suitable for all skin types especially blemished skin.” – HAPPY SKIN COSMETICS Zz Cream, Php1299.00 purchase here
I like that it’s got more cling than slip to it, it takes a bit more working into the skin with fingers, I prefer fingers to a brush for applying this sort of base. The coverage is light to medium with a healthy, not shimmery sort of glow. It reminds me of a more lightweight version of Clinique’s Even Better Foundation which I really like. Kind of like the tinted moisturizer version of the Clinique Even Better range.
Just Happy Skin Zz Cream on right, no concealer, no setting powder on the face except for a little sweep under the eyes and a tap of NARS Madly blush on the apples of the cheeks.
Happy Skin supplied me with a new tube of their Zit Zapping Cream Foundation (for acne-prone and sensitive skin) and for the last 3 days I’ve been really loving it again. I’ve also observed things I hadn’t before. This time I also took photos of how it looks on me at night. Read on to see it all.… To full post & COMMENTS...
January 2016 is being all annoying and walking briskly ahead, so we all know what that means. In a fluke of some sort last year I managed to NOT post my 2015 summer holiday skincare favorites while being in Balesin. I kept the evidence as shot from the Mykonos villas. As you can see, I also thought the title of this post should be island getaway inspired *thunder cracks*.
YVES ROCHER Detoxifying Teas toning lotion, DIORSKIN Nude Tan BB CREME, Elizabeth Arden 8-hour cream (ointment), Nivea Sun Immediate Sunscreen SPF50, Tarte Maracuja Oil, Macadamia Rejuvenating Sulfate-free shampoo, Bioderma Cicabio Soothing Creme moisturizer (suitable for babies), Avene Eau Thermale Gentle Milk Cleanser, Clarisonic Mia 2
That last one was the summer that did a What’s In Her Bag interview with Tricia Centenera-Valenciano and when I fell back in love with my Clarisonic which I bought on foot in Macy’s NYC in 2014 (it seems just like yesterday, yikes), some don’t agree with using it or find it too harsh. I just find the Clarisonic extremely suitable in the summer. I don’t use it for the rest of the year unless I’m having a heavy makeup sort of month. When I cleanse my face after a sunny day out while traveling I want to be sure I get all the sunblock lotion, sweat, sea scum, beach bits, and light makeup off my skin before my serums and facial oil at bedtime, so I use the Clarisonic. That’s to help provide a clean canvas for another layer of sunscreen the next day. If you don’t want to get all gadgety alternately a facial flannel or baby face towel soaked in warm water with a good emulsifying cleanser should also get the grime off your face. What I like about having the Clarisonic is there’s nothing left over to launder.… To full post & COMMENTS...
It’s actually strange that I’m posting this review first because this is part of a batch of sponsored items that arrived for me from StrawberryNET. Normally I’d present the group arrival first before individually reviewing the items, but this foundation was just so beautiful in finish and so perfect for me I just had to put it up to show you already. StrawberryNET contacted me then sent me on a sponsored $50.00 “shopping spree” on their site (I took forever in choosing) as part and parcel of a thank you for featuring them in the past and also requested continued support in blogging bout them once I received the items I chose, more on that when I blog bout the group. This Shiseido Sun Protection foundation is my most prized “purchase” from the loot that StrawberryNET paid for.
ON THE BOX: “Resists perspiration, water, and oil to maintain a soft matte look on skin, even during outdoor activities. Glides on smoothly and evenly; feels non-sticky and feather-light.” I’m telling you now, that sweet stuff written on the box turned out to be true, for me at least.
Thin, runny bases with excellent medium to full coverage are a booming revolution in the makeup world. You can politely ask this one to stand beside the likes of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and Estee Lauder’s New Invisible Fluid foundation (which Lisa Eldridge demonstrated in this video), those foundations both come in shaker bottles as well with proper nozzles instead of pumps for the runny formula. It’s practically flawless and to my delight, and with a little help from viewing another blog Delicate Hummingbird the foundation shade I chose online SP40 matched me perfectly (author has the same skin color as I do but sadly has stopped blogging as of Jan, dunno why *depressed*) normally with MAC I’m an NC30-35. Read more for the full post to see photos of me wearing this lovely foundation.… To full post & COMMENTS...
