MY 2016 BTS VLOG FOR TEAM KIKO

As you can tell for the stretch of over a week I’ve decided to fully focus on the elections as a matter of importance.  I was given an opportunity to have a sortie run with Team Kiko once again after almost 11 years (in 2007 I did a web series on YouTube with them, very low-res).  My contribution this time wasn’t as consuming, but I gave what I could.  I shot a simple vlog or behind-the-scenes video as a follow-up to my cousin Gab’s full-on crisp, HD take for the campaign here as a tribute to a lot of the sometimes unseen hard work of Team Kiko.

Oh, by the way the pink VMV Hypoallergenics lipstick I’ve been loving and wearing here I’ve already blogged about at this link :).  This was shot on my birthday.  Watch the campaign BTS/vlog video embedded below.  MUSIC Credits: “PANGAKO” Paolo Valenciano with Julianne Tarroja for Star Music (official lyric video here).

KIKO PANGILINAN’S FULL CARAVAN VIDEO BY GAB VALENCIANO

There is I believe a uniquely small handful of people in the world with the energy, tenacity, and talent for massive impact video craft (the sort that makes you think there’s an entire fleet of cameramen doing it) and one of those people is my cousin, Gabriel Valenciano, who was only assisted in shooting by one good friend, David Lamar.  Our very own expressive wild one has certainly outdone himself on this piece which he flew home for.

This is his full serving of the Kiko Pangilinan Caravan campaign video, featuring destinations like Iloilo, Cebu, Bohol, Naga, and Legaspi as well as special moments from Tito Kiko Pangilinan’s 20th anniversary dinner with Tita Sharon and the rest of the Pangilinan family.  Read on for the YouTube and Facebook embedded links and videos.… To full post & COMMENTS...

THE CAMPAIGN SORTIE BEAUTY EDIT

I’ll be jetsetting tomorrow and I’m just starting to get my gear together and charge everything like crazy.  I can barely remember what it was like to move stealthily sometimes from vehicle to vehicle on the campaign trail and document behind the scenes during the peak of summer.  I remember being armed with miniDV tapes and a camcorder.  I recall running alongside pickup vehicles to catch up, sometimes having to run and climb into the back before the whole convoy left me behind.  We’re not exactly Katniss this year, but we’ll have to step up.  You’re looking at my beauty picks for Kiko Pangilinan’s upcoming campaign sortie.  From what I know, it’s going to be hot, hot, hot!

SortieStash_02

The book is about Kiko Pangilinan’s 2007 campaign when he decided to run as an independent candidate and won.  It was just nice to throw in a throwback.  This year he is running on the slate of the Liberal Party.  In 2007 I was just barely developing an interest in makeup and beauty so I have no recollection of what I brought that time.  Read on for a closer look at this edit and the full list.… To full post & COMMENTS...

ARANÁZ TU Still at Spectrum Fair Today

I was at Spectrum Fair yesterday and I picked up two pretty items from Filipino style accessory label ARANÁZ who are still at Spectrum Fair at Whitespace MNL tonight ’til 9pm.

These were too pretty to not photograph the very next day.  The beautiful ARANÁZ Palma releases have had me sighing since last year.  I came home with the tall Palma travel toiletry pouch which I spotted early November last year.  I got the pouch on special offer yesterday, I promised not to mention how much their promo is so you guys can just go and find out.  Read on to have a closer look.… To full post & COMMENTS...

FIVE UNDER THE SUN FACTS ABOUT ME AND YOU

I’ve never been the most toned beach bum out there but I’ve loved summers in the Philippines ever since my tender years.  My parents took me to the beach every year until I was a teenager at least 2-3 times a year.

I thought I’d just let loose and tell you a couple of real things about myself and summer then you can tell me your 5 summery facts in the comments.  Scoot over, Olaf.… To full post & COMMENTS...

I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU USED LAST SUMMER

January 2016 is being all annoying and walking briskly ahead, so we all know what that means.  In a fluke of some sort last year I managed to NOT post my 2015 summer holiday skincare favorites while being in Balesin.  I kept the evidence as shot from the Mykonos villas.  As you can see, I also thought the title of this post should be island getaway inspired *thunder cracks*.

Processed with VSCOcam with c2 preset

YVES ROCHER Detoxifying Teas toning lotion, DIORSKIN Nude Tan BB CREME, Elizabeth Arden 8-hour cream (ointment), Nivea Sun Immediate Sunscreen SPF50, Tarte Maracuja Oil, Macadamia Rejuvenating Sulfate-free shampoo, Bioderma Cicabio Soothing Creme moisturizer (suitable for babies), Avene Eau Thermale Gentle Milk Cleanser, Clarisonic Mia 2

That last one was the summer that did a What’s In Her Bag interview with Tricia Centenera-Valenciano and when I fell back in love with my Clarisonic which I bought on foot in Macy’s NYC in 2014 (it seems just like yesterday, yikes), some don’t agree with using it or find it too harsh.  I just find the Clarisonic extremely suitable in the summer.  I don’t use it for the rest of the year unless I’m having a heavy makeup sort of month.  When I cleanse my face after a sunny day out while traveling I want to be sure I get all the sunblock lotion, sweat, sea scum, beach bits, and light makeup off my skin before my serums and facial oil at bedtime, so I use the Clarisonic.  That’s to help provide a clean canvas for another layer of sunscreen the next day.  If you don’t want to get all gadgety alternately a facial flannel or baby face towel soaked in warm water with a good emulsifying cleanser should also get the grime off your face.  What I like about having the Clarisonic is there’s nothing left over to launder.… To full post & COMMENTS...

Around the World in 80 Years | Sam’s Travel Inspired Bridal Shower

On behalf of our side of the family I thought of a somewhat unusual bridal shower concept for my cousin Paolo’s fiancee, Sam.  Together with my Tita Donna (homeschool decorating Mama), Tita Maricel, my mom and other Titas we decided to sweep Sam off her feet with uplifting decor, roadtrip music for journeys (Babalik Ka Rin, Come Fly With Me, Leaving on a Jet Plane, Love City etc.), and travel-related goodies for trips via land, sea, or air.  It just occurred to me that most couples are peppered with loads and loads of stuff they need at home which is excellent, but what about the stuff they need when on their marital adventures or great getaways?  Well, wake up to wanderlust.

Pao and Sam were cute on foot but I thought they should soar to new heights so I placed them in the balloon.

I created a rose tinted filter and added it to some of the shots using something like Photoshop (created meaning I filled a top layer with an old rose tint and ticked the Hard Light blend mode for the layer).  Seeing the shots through “virtual” rose tinted glasses adds some “heartwarmth” to them in a way that’s not so obvious.  We’d also like to say a really big thank you to Benefit Cosmetics PH, like on FB here  and Goody hair accessories PH who showed some heartwarming “kikay” support on our special day  for Sam.  Click read more to see all the photos 🙂… To full post & COMMENTS...

The Spare Makeup Kit | Put Together in a Mad Dash

Okay, so I groaned when I realized I had scatterbrained-ly left my makeup kit in my uncle’s house.  It happens to the best of us.  My cousin, Ella, was kind enough to secure that baby the minute I texted her.  If you’re wondering, that illustrated “Prettify” canvas pouch has most of my personal favorites. It’s a good thing I’m a makeup bug blessed with more than enough to choose from.  Without overthinking it (and in a complete hurry) I managed to put a small temporary kit together using the pretty Kate Spade polka-dot wash bag Mom got me.

image

Let me significantly point out that this spare kit came together in 2 groups:

1) What I grabbed the moment I knew I left my kit the other day…

image

CLOCKWISE (sort of): Wet & Wild Megalast matte lipstick 902C, MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer NC30, Jordana lipstick Beige Glow, NYX Nude Beige lipliner, Korres Multivitamin Pressed Powder, Maybelline Volum Express Falsies Black Drama mascara, Okuma concealer (by k-palette), black Maybelline Eyestudio Eyeliner pencil

and 2) What I added in today with time to think.

image

FROM LEFT: Stila Smudgestick automatic eyeliner in “Halfmoon”, Za EverBrows pencil with brow brush, Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Eyeliner black (pot) & brush, Missha perfect concealer in natural beige, Nichido mineral concealer pencil (for small spots & perfecting the lip edge after lipstick), and Elizabeth Arden 8-hr Cream Stick.

image

You’ll notice i haven’t added a lash curler and blush product that’s simply coz I didn’t have time and I’m being super honest. I’d probably add a lash curler and my new NARS Zen blush to make this complete but that’s in the kit I left behind. I’ll have my main makeup kit back with me soon enough but these will see me through.… To full post & COMMENTS...
